Any suggestions for Fish Oil supplement?

I saw a story a few weeks ago about fish oil supplements. The person being interviewed
talked about how there were many bad products on the market.

He said that a fish oil supplement should never have a odor to it. He said that unless refrigerated
it begins to turn rancid. i always thought the smell was normal.

So anyone have any ideas for a supplement? I know it is best to get it from food, but for a
lot of reasons that's not feasible.

Mine just kind of smell like medicine.Not really fishy.But i have had fishy smelling ones and took them because before i read this i thought they were suppose to smell like fish...uhoh.lol.But not gonna lie i grabbed my bottle and took a big deep smell lol.but i dont spend alot on my fish oil maybe i should...I take old nature made. 1200mg n 360mg of omega 3.Just 1 pill twice a day.

Thanks. I've known for a while I need to take something and after seeing that report got rid of everything I had. It was hard for me to force myself to take them.

I did see a Nutrapath this week (what a waste of time and money). She wasn't lyme literate and I only went to get some help in figuring out my 23andme results. Not only wasn't she interested in that but "wouldn't consider treating me until I had $1500 is tests to know where to begin." She kept saying that she made no money off the tests, but if that were the case my PCP could have ordered them.

Sorry for the small rant (LOL, Buhner says that over and over in his new book and it makes me laugh).

So I brought up the issue of the smell with fish oil meaning it is rancid and she got huffy and said HER fish oil supplements don't smell rancid. Without looking at the bottle, I bought one (I know stupid). When I got home I realized why her fish oil "doesn't smell", half of each soft gel is filled with lemon oil. I can still smell the rancid smell its just harder.

Janet, why do you take 6 softballs twice daily? The label says 2 soft gels daily and you can take 2 twice daily for ultimate support. If you are taking 12 total a day, it would definitely be pricey.

Fish oil was marketed all these years as being good for your heart. Last year in March studies were released stating that they had no actual cardiac benefit. What they did find was that they did reduce inflammation.

The reason for the high dose is in the link. I had been on rx pain meds because of my neck surgeries. I had stopped taking them but was still in a lot of pain. Taking the Omega 3 has reduced that pain considerably.

The reason we are gluten free and dairy free is because of the inflammation response gluten and dairy create and with Lyme and co being so inflammatory it's an issue for us when it may never have been.

Liquid is the best and purest form. This is what I use - supposed to be top notch.

Chapelle is right liquid form is best. I couldn't handle the texture when I started taking it and switched to pills.

Let's see if this makes it easier.

i agree. i also stopped using capsules. the lesser industrial processing steps and the fewer foreign chemicals the better

you are funny Kim - yes, I use the unflavored too bc I just mix it in with my vitamin zero water. absolutely no taste at all, so its just like drinking my vitamin zero water except it's "oily". It really isn't bad IMO - but then again, i can stomach most things, LOL

jtiny410, thanks for the suggestions. I did decide to go with omega3innovations.com. Their product is produced directly from the fish caught in Norway (or that area) and shipped in packing meant to keep it cool.

I checked into Bronson and you should be aware that people have had problems with the products and the sales/advertising. Apparently, they do business under at least four different names and after buying something from one company they start receiving automatic shipments from the others even though no purchases were authorized. I've had that happen with other companies. The other issue is that when you call to complain, they will only refund you if you ship the product back at your own expense. Credit Card companies are not always helpful in this situation.

So I would just be aware of what you are getting and what is being sent in the mail.
