Those doctors didn't miss it. They would not even acknowledge it!! URGH, this angers me.

I want to shout it from the roof tops so people don't have to suffer.

You know this reminds me of Avril Lavigne and her interview re her Lyme illness. She said she went to so many dr's and access to top ones but they told her she was crazy and "just go play the piano", it's all in your head etc. And even those dr's didn't diagnose her with Lyme.

sunfun - re: Avril --- I saw her on either Good Morning America or Today show and she was already getting better...but was still so 'raw' - very emotional. She was tearing up during the interview.

We all 'get it' - Even though I have had some improvement...I am still very emotional about the whole ordeal...like a really, really bad nightmare...

PTSD perhaps?

I got misdiagnosed too - too bad this person didn't know about my Dr - that is one thing bad about the title of this article - it's very disheartening......there are definitely good doctors in NYC, you just gotta find 'em!! And I agree, it shouldn't be such a difficult search.....

I live in NJ, a hotbed for Lyme and the location of many well-known LLMD's.

Yet, my GP totally dropped the ball with me when I sought treatment from her the day after I pulled a nymph deer tick out of my abdomen.

Thankfully, I knew to seek input from an ILADS-referred LLMD....and saw him 8 wks. after the bite. Yes, he must have had some ILADS training.....but he wasn't following it because he thought much of it was "too new".

I dated the wrong guy for too long with him.

It was hard for me to find a good thyroid doctor. I've been seeing the same internist for my thyroid for over 6 years now and I'm still the one to suggest (and sometimes push for) needed dose adjustments.

Somehow, I think my experiences could easily apply to other medical situations.

It shouldn't be difficult to get good care but doing so seems to be a universal problem....and not just for Lyme.

Agree cd. I just find it frustrating that we have to do all this research and go to these dis armed with info when that should be their job. Good healthcare is lacking in North America. I admire how you can go in there and demand medication changes. I feel like the times I have questioned certain things in a dr office, I'm met with hostility and a "what do you know, you are not a dr" type response. So I back down. Wish I had the right knowledge.
