Cured is a hard word to define. I saw Dr. J for about
six months last year after my Lyme symptoms came back. He thought there was a good chance I had MSIDS but we did a fairly aggressive treatment (doxy, rifampin, tindamax) and a number of other meds to address related symptoms.
All my major Lyme symptoms except the fatigue have gone away completely or been minimized--this includes the intense joint/muscle pain and brain fog, and I discontinued taking the antibiotics after about
five months. I have a lot of other health issues so it's sometimes hard to separate them.
Dr. J really was wonderful in my opinion. Every appointment we had, he spent over an hour talking to me and seemed genuinely invested in getting me healthy again. He is quite expensive so I haven't seen him in probably six months but I would go back if my symptoms started to flare again. Note that he is not a believer in detoxing and sees little benefit in some of the common practices (salt baths, charcoal, other supplements). He is also someone who doesn't go primarily by the blood test but treats the symptoms, which is refreshing.
