Brain fog - will it ever go away?

I've been treating for lyme for six months now with various antibiotics and herbs. I have seen no major changes in my symptoms. Some are slightly better than they were at the beginning, but not totally gone. For example, my hands were going extremely numb at night every night and now I will have a night every now and then without experiencing the numbness.

The ONE thing that I CAN'T deal with is the brain fog - I just want to be clear again. It's like I'm stuck in a daydream and totally spaced out all the time. There are definitely times when it is worse or better, but it's always there. And it's messing with my short term memory. I am (used to be…) a very organized person, but I am now missing meetings even with reminders on my cell phone and calendar! I'm also newlywed, and this is really affecting my marriage. I have no libido, I am tired all the time and irritable, and sometimes I just cry because I want my old life and brain back so badly.

I am soooo sick of feeling zoned out. Is anyone else stuck in this state? It's my primary symptom. I'm getting so discouraged - I just feel like I should be farther along by now. Please tell me that there is light at the end of the tunnel…it's so hard to remain hopeful.

ABX - Bactrim, probenecid, Amoxicillin, azithromycin (nystatin for candida.)
Herbs/supplements: Stephania root, andrographis, artemisae, ALA, Acetyl L'carnitine, blue heron, milk thistle…I'm probable forgetting some. I take a lot.

I totally agree with PeteZa on talking to your partner!! They can't guess what we are going through, so sitting down and explaining WHY you don't have any libido is important. Many times our hormones are really off and correcting them is what it takes - other times it's the infections themselves. Who feels like doing something like that when they have the flu, much less when we are battling chronic infections!!

about the brain fog - yes I've been there, and worse. Hang in there! You should take a serious look at your detoxing routines, it's likely that you can find something to help lift the brain fog a bit more, but you may need to just heal more before getting rid of the brain fog. I was infected for 40 years and the brain fog was really, really severe for a long time, but it completely cleared for me eventually.

Hang in there Kickn'Lyme...there IS most certainly a light at the end of the tunnel!...the storm will not last forever! Its just a slowwww process of trial and error alot of times with this illness. I agree with others that you should def voice to your partner that its not him/her and you still are very attracted to him/her, but its the illness thats getting you down and for them to just bear with you through this. Also, try to make up for it the best you can on your good days...this is what I do.


Regarding the brain fog, I havent experienced that particular symptom much (knock on wood right), Although Ive had just about every other symptom and mine has always been more of a 'head pressure'...but as a possible solution for you--I would like to recommend a product from the company Nutramedix called "Pinella". It is a form of detox. Its from the cowden protocol but you do not have to be using that protocol to use it. I have this and the burber detox. I do alot of research and I have recalled others over the years saying this helps with brain fog. I also remember reading the reviews for it on Amazon and there are people on there saying it helped their brain fog.
