Biaxin for Headaches

Met with LLMD yesterday for the second time. He is keeping me on the amoxicillin. He also added Biaxin for the headaches. Has anyone else used Biaxin before? If so, were there any side effects? He also did the Igenex test (IGM/IGG), so hopefully I'll have that back in a couple weeks.

I did Biaxin with Ceftin when first diagnosed. 1 month of that and I did not feel any change. I absolutely felt no horrendous side effects. However, I had not taken antibiotics for about 20 years and they did not do well on my tummy. But!!! Remember we are all different. Nothing about lyme is the same for each of us. Just like I love beets and you may think they taste awful.

Listen to your own body. You can get input from others but ultimately we are on our own with this disease. We all need different supplements and different detox methods too. I NEED badly the cold showers. Almost to the point of taking 3 a day when I was first diagnosed. But because it was summer I swam in an alpine lake for hours and luckily I have a playmate husband that loves doing that too.

You probably have totally different needs.

As for the Biaxin.... I would treat your tummy gently. No spicey, alcohol or too much sugar. Gentle foods.

And just for giggles, I absolutely love beets, lol... The Amoxicillin (4000 mg/daily) doesn't bother my tummy, but I do also make sure to take plenty of good probiotics too. So, hopefully, the Biaxin won't either. I know Biaxin is an antibiotic, but Dr said its good for headaches too...I'm gonna keep fingers crossed.

I've not heard of using Biaxin specifically for head-aches. Is you Dr. saying specifically works on the headache symptom..or the symptom resolution happens after the killing of the bacteria?

Please keep us posted Beeperoni and let us know how it goes.

I'm wondering the same thing as Girlie is...Biaxin won't treat the symptom of headaches. That's not what it's for. He must be using it to target an infection, but did he say which one?

My doctor said biaxin can be used for multiple infections and symptoms. He said it is prescribed often to kill co-infections, but can also be to treat headaches, ulcers, gastritis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, whooping cough, etc. I have only been tested for co-infections Babesia and Ehrlichiosis, both of which were negative (of course); so we're not sure if I have them or not. But since start the Amoxicillin, my headaches got worse. So he's hoping adding the Biaxin (Clarithromycin) will help.

Beeperoni we are our own guinea pigs. I sincerely hope it helps the headaches. My headaches were so bad that they even tried narcotics. They did nothing. I absolutely hate head pain!!

Japanese Knotweed was a big help for my headaches. If you are up to trying an herb this is where I would start. I started with just 1 drop 3xs a day and VERY slowly went to 2 drops, then 3. If I felt the least bit "off" I held at that number of drops until my body got used to it before I went up more.
