Anyone with Buhner's book - typo or my bad maths?

Page 356 or Buhner's new book 'healing Lyme' gives the amount of Uncaria (both species, tormentossa and rhynchophylla) for infusion. It states 'Four ounces (7 grams) of the herb in 1 quart (1 liter) of water.

Now, reading throught the other doses, four grams seems an awful lot, and then I checked and 4 ounces isn't 7 grams. Do you think that this should be 1/4 ounce? Or is four ounces right and it's the 'to grams' conversion that is out??

I know that this isn't the starting dose, but someone has asked me about the different doses in different forms and I want to be sure.

Also, while you have your book to hand, on page 160 he states that 'motronidazole will lower RB (round body) levels by ~80 percent and spirochetal forms by ~90 percent' - does he mean metronidazole. I know he's not refering to tindazole as he mentions that afterwards. If I am going to argue a point I want to make sure I am quoting the right drug, lol!!

I see typos all the time in written work. (Currently reading an 'Ellen' book - with typos in it)


There's an error in the Bartonella book, too...about one of the antibiotics...can't remember.

Oh, my own writing leaves a lot to be desired, lol, without a proof reader I would be toast...that'd be toast with three 't's, lol!! I just don't want to pass along the wrong info.

I think it's a typo. Using an online converter, I put in 4 ounces and it came up with 113.4 grams. Then I put in 0.25 ounces, and got 7 grams.

And I think yes it is supposed to be Metronidazole, although I don't think the numbers are right - IIRC, I think those numbers are actually the numbers for Tindmax (tinidazole).

Thanks Razzle :) that was how I arrived at my 'conclusion' so I am glad I am not as inept at maths as thought, lol!!

He states below that, that tindazole '...will reduce both spirochette and RB forms by ~80 to 90 percent', so the figures are pretty close by comparison. I can't comment on the truth of those figures scientifically, but I want to make certain I am at least quoting the right thing....

I agree that is 1/4 ounce (7 grams). I am an editor for an author and this would have been a very hard catch as a typo for an editor, unless you knew your math!

I would venture a guess that Buhner writes in long hand on yellow legal pads and it was his own writing that was amiss. Just a guess, but lots of old school writers still prefer long hand.

Yeah, if time spent with drugs taught me anything..

a 1/4 is 7 grams. An ounce is 28. ;)

Actually just bought a scale, so I know my "dealer" isn't ripping me off. Better be giving me a straight sack of that Cat's Claw, Mountain Rose Herbs.
