So after going back and forth with HR and now the leave bank rep ( RN)she determined based on my non Igenex test that I don't have Lyme.
Igenex said I had two bands positive but the non igenex said only one was positive she discounted my igenex cuz it was two years old. I asked for leave so that I could seek a LLMD
Seriously makes me want to punch her 🔫🔫🔫🔫 for thinking she's qualified to diagnose me. Sorry idiotic RN you can't diagnose me. She is the reason why I'm resigning I'm tired of this stressful back and forth it's been goig on for weeks. She wouldn't accept my doctors notes with symptoms on it. I asked her in a *****y way an you explain why I am balding, losing short term memory, having brain fog and can't read a book my eyes jump all over the page and on the computer screen.
Some nerve!!!
It's bad enough that my recent dream job offer was rescinded 3 days prior to my start date.
Sorry I just need to rant. I gave this employer my loyalty for almost two decades!!! Now I'm ill and this is how they treat me?

I cannot imagine the stress that this is putting on you. I don't know what I would do. I am retired and then got lyme. There is no way I could have worked if I had gotten lyme while still working. And take herbs? My boss would have had grounds for firing me, just knowing that those herbs had trace amounts of alcohol in them.

Was the RN someone you work with, how come she got to decide this? Wow I can't believe that after all your years of working there they have no compassion for your illness. But at the same time I can believe it, because so many people are ignorant towards this disease. I am sorry. :(

Thank you for sympathizing. It's funny that my brother offered to donate a week of paid leave through the leave bank program and the RN in that program denied it. She's just a stinkin RN. She knows nothing about Lyme or anything for that matter but she made the determination to deny me since the labs said it wasn't a strong positive
I hide in the bathroom to nap when I can't focus from the heavy fatigue and it's embarrassing to admit. It's a struggle. I emailed her back to ask her if I was no ill to please explain why I have extreme fatigue, balding, etc cuz she's an expert right?

Is the only way to go over her head is have an Lyme Literate Medical Doctor give you a prescription for leave? She cannot diagnose you, can she? I would think if she is diagnosing she could get in trouble for that. So she has the power to tell you that you don't have something, but she won't tell you what you have? How stressful.

Oh wait! I just re-read and you haven't even gotten to a LLMD. You make an appointment and go. You give them ample notice of when you are going to the doctor, just like you would if you were going to the dentist. I do not like employers knowing medical history outside the realm of it affecting your work. That is what HIPAA laws are for. Are you in the US?

First of all, I'm so very sorry that you have been put through this! It's so very wrong.

Are you in a state that has Lyme laws yet? If so, you may have 'a leg to stand on', as some laws state that if a person gets negative test, the doctor must tell the patient that it does NOT mean they don't have Lyme. This could refute her claim based on the test saying you don't have Lyme.

Also, the ILADS treatment guidelines are now listed on the NGC - National Guidelines Clearinghouse, which gives ILADS validity in their assessments.

Your other option would be to contact a lawyer that is familiar with Lyme cases - or just cut your losses and move on. Moving on will result in less stress for you.

I'm in Maryland, Traveler I'm not familiar with the laws I'm just seeing red right now. Tomorrow is my last day.
Do they have Lyme laws in Maryland?
I wish my LLMD appt was sooner it might have bought me some time and maybe a different outcome but it is what it is.

Evianangel you are so right people are so ignorant about the disease. Infuriating that I gave my entire life to this employer and now I'm sick
I've never asked for crap from this place. Even when I got wrongfully looked over twice for promotion due to my age. I had no idea ageism was a thing but I was told he couldn't believe I did this much work. Even then I never tried to fight it legally or beg for anything. There are options for unpaid leave where you can borrow against your future leave and my boss said she will never approve it

The funny thing is my boss has seen me sick so many times this past year you'd think she would be sympathetic
My lymph nodes kept swelling and I kept going to an ENT. I was constantly fighting an infection duh! I look like crap too
I was sick frequently last year but you'd think she would help me out and let me take unpaid sick leave

Again, I'm so sorry, Lymehater. I checked and unfortunately there are no laws pertaining to Lyme disease and protecting patients or doctors are on the books in Maryland. They have had no luck getting them passed.

This might be something you can consider, once you get your current situation under control better - to be as involved as you can be in getting these laws passed. It can be as simple as writing and calling your elected officials and signing petitions, or you can be more involved than that even!
