Can I pass lyme on to my baby?

I'm so scared, how can I prevent passing lyme disease to my 7 month old? My fiance is having some minor symptoms show up. I understand now that it can be passed alot of ways. Does this mean she will likely get it? I have kissed her a lot :( I can take this, my fiance can takr it but a baby? I have no words. And I will be to blame.

Okay thank God. Thank you! I just got into a sudden panic after watching the doctor oz show, and how Yolandas kids got it. And I never considered the possibility of it being spread to my little one before.

Panic mixed with these infections is never a good thing. We end up doing things we wouldn't usually do. If you have concerns about passing this to your 7 month old, you can use herbs and other natural things to boost her immune system.

But also realize that I was completely untreated for 13 years when I got pregnant and delivered my first child, and then had another child. I was completely untreated the whole time they were growing up and they have never had these symptoms. Just because you have Lyme, it in no way means that you will spread it to anyone, and this is why I say not to panic, but to take some precautions might be a good idea.

No, that would be unbearably long since I was first infected around the age of 7 and didn't even get diagnosed until I was 37, then it took another 3 years for me to find a protocol that worked. Hi Jasperilla, that is a good question. I started having Lyme Symptoms in late December 2015, and I gave birth 6 months prior to that. I never had lyme symptoms before, but I've had anxiety all my life, i also did find a tick on my hair seven years ago but it wasn't attached, it was hanging onto my bangs (yuck).

So I really don't know, I am hoping to God I got bit sometime in Oct/Nov, AFTER I had my baby. She has been very normal and healthy thus far so I am hoping she remains so with all my heart.

I am sorry you and your child are going through this. How are you both doing now?

evianangel, there are a bunch of people on the forum with kids who have Lyme. Some who have Lyme themselves and others who don't have Lyme themselves.

I have Lyme & Co and passed it on to my son. My symptoms started when I was 16 so I went through 2 pregnancies while I had full blown symptoms. I have an active infection (with a positive Igenex and CDC). My kids are now 23 (my daughter) and 16 (my son).

Both kids were diagnosed with ADHD. My son was 2 when my Pediatrician told me his behavior was "the boy version of ADHD". Both had chronic ear infections and chronic strep.

My son has had symptoms since he was little. One morning when he was 5 or 6 he crawled into my bed and said "my legs hurt more than normal". Imagine a 5 or 6 year old thinking pain is normal.

My daughter started on amoxicyline at 10 months old. That was basically every two weeks because the ear infections kept recurring. After a year, she went on amox everyday for two years. After that chronic strep started and at one time she was on rifampin. I could have the timing of this wrong. She doesn't have any symptoms at this time so its possible that knocked out the bugs.

My son also had ear infections and was on abx on and off. Strep too. But the doctor decided to go with tubes, so he wasn't on abx for an extended time.

So we had him tested and just got back the test. His tests were "negative", but two of the bands were Lyme specific so we will be treating him. Right now he is only on some herbs for detoxing neurolyme. It has helped with his anxiety, insomnia and rages.

I agree with Traveler that you should treat and not let it get out of control (can't remember exactly what she said). I was a little older than she was when it started. I was probably infected sometime in my sophomore or junior year of high school. So high school and college were brutal. It's not something you want to have you kids go through.

The earlier you catch the infection the easier it is to get under control.
