Girlie > Turpentine sounds horrible since we know it as a paint thinner, but it's actually just the essential oil of pine trees.
"Turpentine is the distilled essence of crude pine resin. Pine resin is obtained from the trunks of trees like the longleaf pine. The trees are tapped, much as maple trees are tapped for maple syrup. The sticky resin oozes from the cut bark into pots, then the resin is collected and heated in a still until the volatile turpentine compounds are liberated and captured."

Since Lyme I've somewhat lost faith in peoples' capability to simply acknowledge and empathize with what another person says they're feeling. From the doctors who tell you it's all in your head to family members who seem to lack any compassion for what you're going through, people seem to be unwilling to give Lyme patients any credit.
On one hand this illness has given me a new sense of appreciation of human nature and what individuals are able to overcome. On the other hand it's made think that in many ways people are a bunch of sheep who really only can empathize with predefined things that society has deemed worthy of compassion.
