I initially got high blood pressure and a very high pulse. I could sit absolutely still and I felt my pulse all through my body. I started Motherwort because that is what Buhner advised. Then I started Hawthorn because I read it was super good for your heart.

Ever since I got lyme I have had rapid racing heart beats that pound.

My blood pressure is all over the place. I have been tracking my BP for the last six months about every day. Yesterday it was 148/89 pulse 70 and today it is 106/55 pulse 92.

For the life of me I still cannot figure it out. And I am now on a low dose BP med. My doctor likes that I record my pressure because when I get in his office, it is very high. I drive an hour on a crowded freeway to his office (which I am totally not used to) and it is 1 hour away and I always feel like I am going to be late. He finally quit taking my BP in his office because it is inaccurate. I have 3 BP monitors of different kinds in my house. The easiest is the wrist one but the arm cuff is more reliable.

I have read that lyme makes you have low blood pressure, but leave it to me to be the odd ball.

I tried the lying down reading and then popping up and there is a slight difference but not enough to be called POTS my doc says.

My second LLMD focused on my blood pressure more than lyme and he wanted to give me propranolol and I actually took it for a couple of days. I noticed absolutely nothing from it and then I realized that it is an anxiety type bp pill and I just did not like the way it was affecting me, so I quit. Next visit I told him I didn't like it and he said "fine." LOL

Funny how I went to work yesterday and my bp was high. Today I am home with hubby and my bp is low. I think that says a lot.

My BP has always been in the 110/70 or less range. Pulse was 80+ at rest but I always blamed being out of shape and smoking.

Now I'm still out of shape, quit smoking a year ago and I have lyme.

My EKG showed some changes which LLMD said would return to normal once this lyme was over.

But my last appt. my pulse was 63 laying down and 93 standing which he says does put me in the POTS category. MY BP was 135/99 laying and then 116/78 standing. The most unsettling experience is lately I've been feeling like I have to take deep breaths, like I don't have enough air. Last night during a detox bath it really got bad and I sorta got a little scared. No racing pulse, almost never light-headed upon standing. But that breathing thing made me worry about my heart.

I just don't know.

Good luck and I hope you guinea pig a result. I had to find the right combination of herbs that worked well. But I still do not handle stress well and am thinking meditation or yoga. Maybe Tai Chi. Then I could get in a detox at the same time.

But the BP upon raising drop, and adnrenal connection I though was worth noting. Does Buner mention adrenals causing POTS?

What Causes POTS?
POTS is a heterogeneous (meaning it has many causes) group of disorders with similar clinical manifestations.1,4 POTS itself is not a disease; it is simply a cluster of symptoms that are frequently seen together. This is why the 'S' in POTS stands for "Syndrome." Since POTS is not a disease, it is fair to say that POTS is caused by something else.
