It was very informative... held in the town library.
The presenter was knowledgeable and an excellent speaker. There was plenty of opportunity for questions. A couple of times she told folks, "your doctor is WRONG." That was satisfying!
I realize that I've learned a lot in the couple of months I've been here...much still to learn. There's a desperate need for educated health care professionals in upstate New York.
I was very impressed by a slide that illustrates the problem: 240-440,000 NEW cases of Lyme annually, and only $25 million NIH funding for research...less than any other disease, including: Hep C: 1300 annual cases...$112 million; West Nile Virus 5,700 new cases $29 million; HIV/AIDS 56,000 new cases, $3 Billion; Influenza 73,000 new cases $251 million; Zika Virus, 20 new cases, 1.8 BILLION REQUESTED IN 2016!!!
She talked about promising new tests on the horizon and recent successful private fundraising efforts for Lyme research (since not so much happening in the government sector). (No details tonight...left my notes in the car and too tired to go get them.)
This is the organization that sponsored the talk:

Very glad I went!
