Don't want to spend money on testing that I could use for treatment - but

I am trying to let go, but am having a difficult time with it. We talked again last night and my spouse thinks there is a good chance that my symptoms have been psychological because the Western Dr.'s haven't found anything. I left the Buhner book out, he looked at it, but he is choosing the perspective of the IDD and my former GP that negative blood work from a non-lyme lab means that I don't have lyme, and that the bulls eye rash he had from a tick bite is not associated with lyme.

A part of me wants to order tests from a lyme lab, but I don't want to waste money on more tests that could be spent for treatment. Trying to "prove it" seems so stupid.

I think once the bills are paid for the aneurysm and the hospital stay, and I am back in a work flow I can budget for it if it seems wise...

I just wonder, if even tests were positive, a new story might be created to support his view.

I am grounding into the word commitment, yet again, but it is so, so, so, so painful for someone who you love to tell you your symptoms are psychological.

I don't get it, co-workers saw I was ill, and commented on my skin color and headaches and cognitive stuff, but in my own household.

When I do body testing, and ask my body if I should spend $$ on yet more tests, the present answer is no - allocate resources to treatment.

That makes the most sense.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I can't even imagine going through this with my husband negating it....it's hard enough that he believe it's lyme..

I think if you got a positive on an Igenex test, he would just say it's not a reliable lab...and the test isn't worthy.


But, having said that, there is a chance he might accept the Igenex test...

I had a similar situation with my father.
He was worse than your husband. He thought that it is psychological and that I exaggerate, that I present my pain more bigger than it really is. In one moment, I think that he thought I am nuts :(

My mother paid for my lab test, without knowing that was a test for Lyme - I just told her it was test for some bacteria. I was afraid that she would oppose it, because I never had a tick bite, and the test was not cheap.

However, when I got lab results my father changed completely, he started to support me and to fight with me against this horrible disease.

Nevertheless, you know your husband the best and on the basis of his personality you need to make a choice.

I need to add that I think the issue is that he had a rash and now he is perfectly fine, so he is thinking about your Lyme based on his experience.

I have a totally different view of your spouse's behavior. Since he has the same symptoms as you do, then he's aware of the issues he's having, correct? He also knows that he had a bulls eye, right?

I'm going to assume your spouse is a relatively intelligent man which makes me also assume that somewhere in his subconscious he knows that he has lyme but is choosing the ignorance is bliss mindset.

We've seen people who have been endlessly searching for a reason for all that ails them and when they find out it's Lyme they are devastated. Maybe the only way he knows how to cope right now is to believe he's 'ok". Maybe he needs to see you treat and start your path to health before he's ready to join in.

This disease fiercely messes with the mind. For now let him deny.

You take care of you. When he see's that you are getting better while he's getting worse he won't be able to continue to deny. Ignorance will stop being blissful.
