Hi all,

I just wanted to share something that I've been doing to help my teeth and it seems to be working. My teeth were feeling wonky - like loose in my gums and kind of sore and also feeling as though there were cavities emerging with painful pockets around my whole mouth.

I searched and saw info about coconut oil pulling, but that wasn't going to fly with me. I just couldn't do it as I'm a gagger, so I knew my stomach wouldn't hold up. I was getting very concerned about the health of my teeth and gums and was prepared to see a dental specialist for my problems. In addition, I had an ear infection in my left ear and a lot of pain with that. I'd never had an ear infection before but read up that Lyme can cause ear issues as well as dental issues.

I finally came across a youtube video for swishing with wheatgrass. I started doing it and amazingly my stomach held up, no gagging and it was actually pleasant tasting. I swish about 1/8 of a teaspoon of wheat grass in a small shot glass of purified water for about 2 minutes right before I go to bed. I spit it out upon completion but do not rinse my mouth out afterwards....yes, it does make my teeth look a little green but that goes away. On the video, she recommends 5 minutes, but 2 is about all I can do right now.

Let me tell you, I am so happy with this. My ear popped and finally drained about a week after starting this - now mind you I'd been battling with this ear thing for about 3 months prior to starting the swishing. As of today my teeth no longer have any pain at all and feel well planted and healthy in my mouth - there is no more loose feeling at all. I've also noticed my breath is better and my teeth are whiter.

I am always on the lookout for inexpensive, natural options for my healing and feel like I hit that jackpot with this and wanted to share now that I've been doing it for a while and am seeing definite improvements.

Hopefully this will help someone out there that may be battling with similar issues.

Wheatgrass is awesome! I had no idea about this swishing with it and thank you so very much for the information. It is going on my grocery list!

Wow, Jenny! Thank you for sharing such wonderful information!! And congratulations on finding something that helps so much!!

I do have a couple of questions though, how long did you do this before you started feeling the benefits? How long have you been doing it now?

So, what form is the wheatgrass in?

I just know it as grass - as in....well...grass.

How do you swish that around? is it put in a blender first?

(don't laugh at me...lol)

Jenny, I have same questions as Traveler and what form of wheat grass do you use? Where do you buy it? Also, I posted a question for you over at Micha's Protein Powder post, if you wouldn't mind answering. Awesome info, Jenny - getting excited at all this new info.! Thanks so much for sharing!

Well, it was about 7-9 days in when my ear popped and drained. I've probably been doing it for about 2-2 1/2 months now. It's also nice because in the morning, I don't wake up with weird fuzzy teeth....I think the chlorophyll staves off bacteria growing at night, too. I think it's the video that she mentions that the chlorophyll is a natural anti-bacterial and gets in all the little pockets and is able to get up into the sinuses when swishing, too. It's small enough to reach places you wouldn't think it was able to - you know all that stuff is connected in your head, I don't know the medical term for it, but it made sense to me.

I got the Amazing Greens product from Amazon and I think it was like $20 for a tub of it and I've hardly used much up, so it will probably last a long time. I like it too because you don't have to worry about where you're going to spit it when you're done, you just put it down the bathroom drain without worry, unlike the coconut oil pulling.

I'm digging it and wanted to share with others that may be having some of the issues I was experiencing. I really think it helped with my ear - I've had some light pain come and go since using this, but nothing major and it has not blocked up and gotten infected again, that's for sure.

Girlie,

I just put the water in the little shot glass and put the wheat grass on top - it doesn't really soak in very well but I kind of tap the glass on the counter a few times and then bottom's up! So, I guess it doesn't really get blended very well in the cup before I put it in my mouth, but when I start swishing, it isn't weird or gross and then the lumps go right away. It's not much you put in - like 1/8 teaspoon or just covering the bottom of the scooper they send with it.

I'm so happy with this, I'm thinking of using it on my cocker spaniel who has genetically bad teeth. I'm curious to see if I put it in his food at dinner if it will help with some of the tartar that's building up. The vet said on his last appointment that he will need a dental within the year....let's see if this will negate that need? I'll keep you posted!

Wheatgrass is the king of alkaline foods! It restores DNA and it is more potent than aspirin as an anti-inflammatory.

I eat it in Green Vibrance, but I love this idea for good mouth health.

Jenny, if you notice it helps your dog's teeth by just putting in their food - PLEASE let us know!! I have small terriers and their teeth need help too! They don't appreciate me brushing their teeth very well and I really don't think I'd have much luck trying to teach them to "swish" smilewinkgrin

I'm trying to think of ways to get it in him....I may just make a little cup of it up and see if he'll just drink it at night before we go to bed? He's a good, non-discriminating eater, so chances are he'll drink it without issue, especially if I put it in broth? I'll try the food version first for a month or so and keep an eye on his teeth and see what happens because that's the easiest and I'm lazy. Won't hurt him, anyway...maybe will make green poops in the yard, but that's fine! LOL.

I don't want to leave it out like his normal water. My gut says it will not be potent once it sits out for a while. I also wouldn't recommend mixing a bottle up and leaving it in the bathroom for your own use every night. My instinct says it needs to be mixed and promptly used. No science behind that but just my gut feeling.

I agree on the not allowing it to sit around. I've been told that by Master Herbalists.

One of my dogs is a Jack Russell, so there's no way I can get her (the little stinker!) to drink it, but if it works in food, I can 'cheat' and give her just a touch of canned food at night - just enough to mix it in with.
