I totally agree about herxing from detox. I definitely do.
Another possibility for what you are describing, is that even though you have bartonella (and probably tested positive for it), that you may also have babesia too. Biaxin (and Azithromycin) has anti-protozoan properties, as does Rifampin. I don't know who you are doctoring with, but THE DR. M (Bart guru) told me that about the Rifampin himself. But, the "cidal" effect on protozoans would not be enough to make headway with Babesia (if that happens to be your highest load). According to that doc, you just piss the (protozoan) bugs off, but don't kill them. Of course, that drug combo WILL kill Bart. That we know. At least for most people and the typical strains of Bart (since that is the combo the guru uses).
So, maybe consider testing and treating for Babesia???.... or some other protozoan infection like Toxoplasmosis, or even Protomyxzoa Rheumatica (the Fry bug).
Just something to consider.....
Im seeing the same guy.
Negative for babesia, and lyme, but only did the in depth test that took 2 fricken months to complete for bartonella. And that was negative, LOL, but the antibody test was through the roof positive. Yeah the expensive as hell test 1000+ dollars gave a false negative and the simple anti-body test was majorly positive. Love it.
One thing I have noticed since taking rifampin is that my tinnitus is actually not as bad any more. I basically just noticed it today, that over the last several weeks, its just been fading away. Its still there, but its intensity has decreased a significant degree. I can sleep on my right side again now, whereas for the last 4 years (since feb 2012) there had been a spontaneously occurring and unending loud tone that I one day just woke up with and it never went away. Surprisingly, that loud tone is now decreasing in volume (along with the other lesser intensity tones).
I think Im just agitated from all these drugs. I think they are working, but I want them to work faster honestly.
And agitation and rage was/is one of my more significant bartonella side-effects, so those are getting pressed with these drugs. Most of my bartonella symptoms, or maybe even almost all, are all neurological. Never got the burning feet or other stand-out physical symptoms, but I have most of the neurological ones in spades.
