I use it as a tea. Though, in combination with other herbs. I use about 14 grams daily, drinking roughly 3 cups of the tea a day.
I do not know if that could be considered a large dose. It seems somewhat, at least compared to amounts I've heard of people using some of the other commonly mentioned herbs.
But, I figure that I should use a decent amount, considering I do not feel that it is nearly as effective as tincture form, and it is relatively inexpensive, ordering through Mountain Rose Herbs (like, 10 - 12 dollars a pound, I believe).
I do not know how effective it is either.
I feel I still suffer from sluggish lymph, everything that comes along with that. But, there is one or two symptoms I have not noticed since using it more regularly.
I would always get these burning sensations in my neck, and a lot of what I am sure are lymph nodes in there would be very sore, inflamed-feeling. Now, they still feel slightly sore, swollen, but not like they used to and the burning pains are not as sharp, intense, or frequent.
As to why I am still suffering from some symptoms, I do not think my method is entirely to blame. I think there are just a lot of other factors involved. No one thing can be the answer with this stuff, it seems.
Though, again, I do feel that tinctures would be the best way to go, if you can tolerate the alcohol and the cost.
Red root may be inexpensive monthly, but other herbs get pretty ridiculous once you get up to the max recommended doses.
But, as has been mentioned, you could make your own tinctures to remedy the cost.
I would be on all tinctures, or as many as possible, if I could be.
Overall potency, absorption, and ease of use.
It is just the moneynand the issues with the alcohol, however small the amounts, that drives some away.
