I had never heard about
not taking CoQ10 with Mepron. Thanks. I'll investigate that further.
This is a very complex issue and to say that everyone needs something is stretching it in my book. Taking CoQ10 can certainly help with energy as it's an electron carrier and helps the electron transport chain. It's also an antioxidant and that function is where trouble may arise. As you supplement with it and other deficient antioxidants, enzymes, nutrients, vitamins, etc., you body begins to function like it used to before you became ill. This can increase problems. Most of the time, our body down regulates pathways, functioning, immune response, and even gene function to decrease the damage caused by free radicals. The free radicals are increased because of our pathogens. So increasing deficient substances before removing or reducing the pathogen load can increase problems. I'm not saying don't take it because it can help, I'm saying the pathogen load needs to come down to reduce issues or potential problems. Adding something without addressing the real problem (which is the negative effects from the pathogens) could be detrimental to our health.
If I were going to try to increase my CoQ10 levels, I'd first eat foods high in tyrosine and Vitamin K. Tyrosine is the base moiety for making CoQ10 and Vit K is a cofactor in the movement of hydrogen ions. If that didn't work, then I'd supplement.
A good read I found while researching this topic.
