Is there a "Title" for immune doctors ? (not seeking for lyme, but autoimmune)

I'm just wondering if such exists. All drs recognize it, but none know it well, besides going to natural path Drs ect.

There is Lupus in my family and they go to a rheumy.

just my experience-the only docs that seem to care about your immune
system are alternative docs and naturalpaths

I treated my gut 8 years ago(before ABX) its better.

They couldn't tell me anything I didn't already know from learning on the internet. And they were willing to do any treatment you'd pay for, which tells me they were partially guessing, and dont care if people go broke from their services.

Thought I'd see if there were any conventional Drs that "do autoimmune", even though most conventional Dr arent very helpful. For a co-pay, its worth a shot.

Chiros are trying this stuff (and over charching newbies big time), but its the same gut approach. Nothing new to me, so I'm not paying them thousands for some immune program I've already done.

They all preach "gut", and I agree, but anyone can preach gut health, its nothing new anymore. They still dont seam to understand details, its still theory. I hate paying for theories, that everybody knows by now.

I did see a rumi who got some of this, but had no concrete answers - he was worth the co-pay though (most are not).LOL.

Maybe some day it will be more black and white.

Pirouette - as you say "Many practicing but few are authentic"- YES, thats the problem with natural paths and functional docs.

These docs are coming out of the woodwork now, and they ARE GUESSING!!!

Anyone can practice this stuff. Some of here us could if we were licensed.

I have not done the chinese medicine yet. Because anyone could fool someone with this since its so close to "magic". I have sat in on lectures, it was out of this world. I've never seen a ghost either. Probably not a good candidate for that stuff, I have stubborn science brain.

Well, not everyone can be 100% healthy. Would be nice to feel like it though. I can still dream of it.

Treating them is challenging. But just cause one has them, does not mean they are flipped "on".

Astro, Dr Y in St Louis is the type of physician you need to see.

I was interested in your situation because I saw some parallels with mine and did some specific digging back when I offered to help. I found some interesting info and if I remember right, I had your major broken pathway mapped out. I wish I had saved that stuff.

I wanted to also share with you an interview with an LLMD conducted by a former lymee who blogs for Huffington Post. It's a good interview but his comments about MS and the "autoimmune trend" were quite interesting. Thought you might like to read it.

I'm not discouraging you from pursuing an autoimmune specialist--not sure I understand the impetus and I probably knew more of your history before I do now--my memory is so bad. But FYI.

Dana Parish interviews Dr. Steven Phillips (excerpt):

---"How many patients come to you with an MS diagnosis who actually get better with antibiotics?
A lot. I have to differentiate the relapse and remitting folks from the primary progressives. I don’t know that primary progressives have Lyme—they don’t respond the same way—but my relapse and remitting patients respond quite well and the majority have evidence of Lyme if you thoroughly evaluate.

One of my most challenging patients was a man who developed neurologic symptoms five years after an EM rash. He became rapidly disabled with forty large brain and spinal cord lesions.

His neurologist told me, in a nutshell, that he’d be disabled for the rest of his life and that there was no hope. He called the patient a “sinking ship.”

Knowing about the possible relationship of Lyme to MS, the patient asked his doctor for antibiotics and was prescribed a month of minocycline, which helped significantly. But when the antibiotic stopped, he relapsed, and the neurologist refused to give him any more.

So, he came to me with this very clear history of prior EM, transient response to antibiotics, and a grave prognosis in the absence of effective treatment. I treated him very aggressively for several years with oral antibiotics, along with an infectious disease doctor who treated him with many months of IV antibiotics, and he got much, much better. The majority of his lesions resolved and he was able to get off of disability.

One of my other patients was paralyzed on the left side of his body with a diagnosis of MS and his paralysis resolved with antibiotics, as did his brain and spinal cord lesions. He has not relapsed in ten years, but pulses with 2-3 weeks of oral antibiotics about six times per year because relapses are very common when severe central nervous system illness has become established.

I often have patients come to me on standard MS drugs and I add in some simple tetracycline-based regimens and their symptoms improve and their lesions resolve. I’ve had doctors tell me they think it’s a coincidence when my patients get better, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what’s happening.

---How do you feel about immunosuppressant drugs?
I think they’re dangerous and personally would not take them. They’re not treating the underlying cause of any disease! They’re just suppressing symptoms, at the cost of possibly fatal illness.

The TV commercials for these types of drugs invariably list infections, cancer, and new or worsening heart failure. I think you have to ask yourself why one would develop new or worsening heart failure on an immunosuppressive drug.

---Because they’re suppressing Lyme?
Yes, that’s what I believe, or some other infection. There’s data linking Bartonella to heart failure as well.

---Then why aren’t doctors routinely ruling out Lyme before giving a serious auto-immune diagnosis?
I don’t know, but they should. There are a lot of group dynamics, it’s like a sociology experiment gone wrong; what prevents doctors from seeing the obvious when they’re told it’s not possible?

A lot of medicine is dogmatic. Doctors are not taught to think as they go along; they’re taught to read guidelines and they just practice but they’re not investigating the processes themselves."

Pir- Ill never know what came first, lyme or my autoimmune. After ABX, I got better the time you were away from here. But like many, not 100% better. Once autoimmune starts, its pretty hard to get it to go away, conventional says never (hashimoto is forever). One day it will be figured out. I had a brain mri too, I'm good there.

GH- Kennedy pathway? I dont remember that one. I'll have to google that. At least its not called the obama pathway.

I tried low protien in the past- did nothing. Funny, my protien (I eat chicken 3 days week) is on the low end of the range all the time.
