I don't know, you'd think an outlet like CBS would try to be as correct as possible, but I am not sure that I trust the editor's note that you are referring to. I don't mean to say that I don't believe it's out there, ready to be used, but rather that it is "commercially available."
In the article, one of the doctors or whoever involved said that it is available to patients (who, where, sign me up). I imagine that means it's a doctor's order sort of thing.
But, to me, commercially available is, like.. buy it on Amazon. lol
This might seem an unnecessary response, but the commercially part got my hopes up. I'm dim enough to believe that something like that would actually be sold OTC.

the researchers are out of George Mason, and this is on their site:

I will try and make some calls and do some digging on this today to see if it really is commercially available.

I think it's the nanotrap. Still need a physician to sign off on and it's $400. You can order the test kit yourself.

$400 is a pittance compared to the money one would spend if they don't catch this disease early and have to treat for months or years. if i thought i had lyme disease i'd go this route as opposed to any other as it just makes sense to look for the pieces of a lyme bacteria as opposed to your body's response to it. similar to a FISH test.

I agree. I need to spend more time researching the accuracy.
