Does anyone use MMS for lyme treatment?  I've read some other threads that it could be potentially dangerous but have also read that some people have gotten great results.

Many find it too risky (I'm one of them). It's too much like drinking bleach.

Remember MANY things kill bacteria (in vivo), but it doesn't mean you should consume it. Dish soap kills bacteria, however I would advise against drinking dish soap.

Hahaha! Sorry dacarte, I laughed out loud at work at that last bit. That's exactly what I've read too. Why would anyone in the world prescribe this to a patient if it's like drinking bleach?

The guy that was doing this was convicted of fraud charges. He "created" this "miracle cure" and made a lot of money - sometimes that's the only benefit a person seeks - no matter how many they harm.

I have a completely different opinion than the moderators on this board using MMS. I've read plenty of success stories and some from people I personally know. Dave it's up to you to do your own research and decide whether this is a route you want to try.

Since I have been the only mod to post on this thread, I assume you were referring to me, Rikky. What I said was NOT my opinion at all. It's fact. Read it for yourself.

I am neutral on MMS and have no knowledge of its use in chronic infection. The literature does show chlorine dioxide is a adequate disinfectant. So if it is like drinking bleach, then the concentration would need to be correct and it would work. Getting the concentration correct would be the issue.

I somewhat disagree with saying don't use it at all.

I think use it but beware of the risks. I mean some might argue taking antibiotics for too long is also risky! Or some might argue ozone is dangerous.

Actually it's harm level is around that of doing an ozone therapy. Basically it is an oxidizing agent. So it oxidizes the microbes, but also oxidizes your own tissue as well which you should be aware of... Possibly damaging your own DNA. That being said, your own DNA does have repair mechanisms when therapy is complete and can heal.

There are plenty of success stories with it's use and these are people that don't endorse the product. Also it's simple and cost effective. So it's not that this one person just endorsed this method just for the money.

Would I personally use it? Probably not if I had other options... Mind you I have other options and am still not finished! If money is an issue, it might be something to look into... Just do some research and try and find many other people who used it and what dose each of them recommends. So it's imporant to know a dose that is tolerable and doesn't cause too much harm to the body.

Traveler I know enough about the FDA to trust very little what they say. They're a lobbying firm for big pharmaceuticals I know a lot of dirt on them from friends who work in the industry. The CDC is part of the sham as well so for me quoting the FDA is like asking Hillary Clinton what kind of President she would be ;)

Wow I really did not know I would start such a debate! It looks like it's a little risky, albeit there are success stories, like LP said they are safer and better alternatives. I will keep it in the back of my mind but for now I don't think it'll be in my arsenal.

Rikky, find any site that has this headline then - there are others. I know enough about this to know that I'll never use it and will never recommend it. How does anyone know that their concentration of it is right and won't do harm to their body - it's not like you 'feel' oxidative stress before it does damage.

Everyone here is free to do what they wish with their own treatment protocols - I definitely do not feel like I have the right or the power to enforce, or even direct someone's treatment. My main point is that many do not know the risks, and will go try it on someone else's word. There are many other much safer things to use and to recommend that are specific to the tick-borne infections.

Ha ha ha! Emotions can run high on most anything on a forum such as this. Many are really ill and if we have felt benefit from something we like to "tell the world" - you should have seen the ruckus on this board when I started healing with herbs! I was the first one (on this forum) to do it at home, without a Lyme literate practitioner.

As long as the debates stay civil, many good points can be brought out, on both sides of the "argument".

Interesting that this would a topic. I was speaking with someone last week who knows many persons who have used or are currently using MMS. Based on that persons information, I would have been sold on using it (tho I wasn't interested). But if I were interested, I would have been very happy to receive this article to make an informed decision.
