scary stuff. maybe some of us can get our hands on that super antibiotic colistin? ;o)

Right!?!!--Rikky!!.....uhhh can we get some colistin antibiotic oVa heeeeRe..cuz lyme & co's sure is "nightmare bacteria(s)" (<--quoting the article!)

So frustrating that this appears to be caused by feeding livestock this abx, particularly in China! It's shocking that even here in US 80% of abx go to livestock - hopefully I'm remembering that statistic correctly. And they worry so much about Lyme patients overdoing it.

I wonder if they even bothered to consider testing herbals against this bacteria. They are so far down the rabbit hole that pharma drugs are the be-all and end-all in medicine. Do they forget where many medicines originally derived?

I just hope this doesn't start a pattern of Dr.'s not wanting to treat lyme long-term with antibiotics....

If someone says something to me about long-term antibiotics causing these superbugs (in reference to lyme treatment) - I just say:
Well, they better start funding more research on diagnosing/testing/treating lyme....so we don't NEED to go on long-term antibiotics.

It's not OUR fault...that the medical community has failed us.

Antibiotics are cheap to make and only bring in a small profit for the pharma companies. There is absolutely no incentive for them to try and find a drug that will combat this bacteria. It is only drug resistant until the drug is made that will kill it.

There is a HUGE "blow your mind" amount of money made on cancer drugs. I paid for one of my daughter's drug for 7 days and it was $2000.00. Her insurance picked it up, but that was the cost for 7 flippin pills. So this is where the research and pills are being made - It all comes down to profits to big pharma.
