How long does tick need to be attached?

So I told my neighbor that a tick could transmit lyme/co's in less than 24 hrs. I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere but now I'm second guessing myself. If anyone has links or articles to back it up please share them with me! I can't find anything solid.

Above is the CDD's "opinion" on it. I think they lie!!!! I do not believe them!!!! I would not go by this figure at all!!!!

I would imagine that it just depends on the ole tick. Is he making contact with your blood? Then my assumption and common sense would say, he is infecting you.

The tick that infected me was probably on me at about 3pm or a little there after. I took a shower at 9pm and saw the bite but I guess I washed the tick off my arm. I never saw the tick. It was April and more than likely a nymph tick.

That right there is 6 hours! Now did he infect me at 8:30pm or 3:01pm? We just don't know.

"While the longer the tick is attached, the higher the risk of transmission, it is possible to get Lyme disease even if the tick is attached for less than 24 hours. The salivary juices of the tick, which contain anticoagulants, anesthetics, and immune suppressors, also contain microbes that can be injected at the time of attachment. Transmission of bacteria by ticks attached less than 24 hours has been well documented in animals, and a recent paper last year documented that this can occur in humans as well."

I could be mistaken, but in Buhner's most recent book, I'm pretty sure he cites some studies that show a tick can transmit disease in as little as 10 minutes.
Ticks don't always bite in and take a full meal... sometimes they just take a little snack and then detach.
