The Bartonella protocol on the site is missing a few items that he lists in his Basic Protocol in the book.

The Isatis/alchornea isn't on the site; either is Red Root....interesting.

I don't see any difference.... what am I missing?

In his book he has Red Sage and Skullcap in his core protocol. But it isn't on the site.

I agree with Markus. His core protocol is still not on his website.

The website was created by a former patient and has nothing to do with Buhner himself. That's a problem, because most people think that the protocols on the site are up to date, which they are in fact not. I have to correct myself and agree with Pete, that the listed protocol for Lyme is not actual either.

The up to date protocol for Lyme is as follows:


Polygonum cuspidatum (e.g. as tincture, 1/4 to 1 tsp 3-6x daily)

Tincture of Salvia miltiorrhiza and Scutellaria baicalensis (1 tsp 3x daily)

Vitamine C (1000-3000mg daily)
Great lakes gelatin (1 tbl, 1x daily.)
Selen 200mcg

Uncaria tomentosa (e.g. as tincture, 1/4 to 1/2 tsp 3x daily)
Cordyceps (e.g. as tincture, 1/2 to 1 tsp 3x daily)
Withania somnifera (as powder, 1/2 tsp 3x daily)
Eleutherococcus senticosus (e.g. as tincture, 1/2 tsp 3x daily)
Glycyrrhiza glabra (e.g. as tincture, 1/4 tsp 3x daily)

Andrographis (as powder 600-1200mg, 3x daily), May cause allergic reactions!

for Neuroborreliosis add:
Uncaria rhynchophylla (e.g. as tincture, 1/2 to 1 tsp 3-6x daily)

Girlie here is his core protocol --

1. Protecting endothelial structures (pg 214) - Polygonum cuspidatum (Hu Zhang or Japanese Knotweed)

2. Cytokine remodulation (pg 214) - Salvia miltiorrhiza (Red Sage) and Scutellaria baicalensis (Skullcap or Huang Qin)

3. Collagen protection (pg 214) - Great lakes gelatin, Vit C, Selenium, etc

4. Immune remodulation (pg 215) - Unicaria tomentosa (Cat's Claw), Cordyceps mycelium (a mushroom), withania somnifera (ashwagandha), Eleutherococcus senticosus, Glycyrrhiza (licorice)

5. Antispirochetal (pg 215) - Andrographis

Just as Markus listed only I put the names Red Sage and Skullcap and the others in there.

So, on the website - they're calling it the 'basic' protocols...and the books have the 'expanded' protocols.

From the website:

"The most current basic protocols for babesia, bartonella, and mycoplasma are below, but again, it is highly recommended that you purchase the individual books for each of these conditions for the expanded protocols."

Mister Mike that's exactly it. If you can afford it. That's why I just posted a new topic about the top 3. I think we often forget that there are people reading these posts and sometimes responding who cannot afford the extras and really look to the information and guidance listed on this forum here to help in their fight.

On Amazon most of his books are available now used and the most expensive used one is about $15.

Kindle is just about the same price as a used book on his older books.

Well Cat's Claw is in Buhner's core protocol for Lyme. Has been for over 10 years. Seems fairly important.

He says Gou Teng is "absolutely crucial" if you have neuroborreliosis. Gou Teng is also known as Chinese Cat's Claw.

Edit: to answer your question, yes these are different, both in species and in the part of the plant that is medicinal.

But it would be possible to take just Gou Teng, without Cats Clow, and that it works - that it has effect on neuroboreliosis, woudn't it?
