Anyone taking berberine as part of their treatment plan? There are many benefits, but one that I did not know about was its ability to act on babesia. I read that on a Suzy Cohen post. Does Buhner mention it? My books arrive tomorrow, so I won't have to ask you guys about the books anymore 😊.

here is what I found that Buhner says -

A berberine plant is any plant that contains berberine: goldenseal, Oregon grape, barberry, coptis, and so on.

K - Buhner mentions berberine containing plants in each of the 3 books by him that I have: Lyme, Bart and Babs. In the Babs book he says that berberine containing plants are not systemic enough to act as a primary treatment for Babesia but may in some circumstances work as supportive therapy, meaning that it is not carried throughout the body like some herbs.

I'm just about to start using barberry as a snuff for nasal issues so I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks MM. I was using goldenseal last year when dealing with another issue and I felt really good. When I stopped I noticed that all heck broke loose. I was thinking about adding it in IF I needed some extra. I'm hoping not to need it, but was wondering what Buhner said about it. It's good for cardiovascular as well.

I was accidentally tsking it beforeni knew I had lyme and I got worse so it may work on something I wasn so tired..etc

K - I've always been drawn to goldenseal for some reason, and really wanted to try it instead of the barberry, but the barberry is just so much affordable. Maybe sometime! If you were having good luck with it, that might be an indication to add it back in.

Goldenseal has been my go-to for colds and flu that I initially feel coming on. I love it, but there is one brand I bought and gosh I burped this gosh awful taste all day long. I hope I don't buy it again.....

Can't remember the brand, but I know the container. lol -- typical consumer -- lol

I am considering adding this - came upon it when researching the GAPS. Low mood has been a remaining symptom - could be good in my "mix it up" approach.

I know that Goldenseal is good for mucous membrane infections (sinuses and such)
