Are you using this as part of your protocol? Or are you using something else as an immune modulator? Has anyone found cordyceps to work better?

I did use cats claw as one of my first supplements but I didn't really notice much of an effect. I did however at the end of treatment use a mushroom blend with cordyceps in it that I loved. I think it was mycommunity host defense. It was really expensive though at like $50/bottle. I might try a well rated generic next time.

Yes I'm wondering about the cats claw too. I am ordering the cordyceps blend from sage woman herbs. I've been doing cats claw far too long and I don't think I'm getting any improvements from it so I am going to trade off with the cordyceps.

Sounds like a good plan! Any time I was on an herb (I was on, a lot!) that I wasn't sure was working, I would take it out for a week or so and then add it back in, if I didn't notice any difference then I would talk to my herbalist and more often then not we would take it out of the regimen.

I get big herxes out of Cat's Claw, usually on day 3 of a new dosage.

Everyone's different though.

I'm assuming cordyceps has to be taken in small dosages and worked up as well.

Not a bad rule of thumb to titrate up dosage. In theory you shouldn't herx because it is more of a supportive herb then antibacterial/viral but always better to exercise caution!

I took way too much cordyceps once and was walking on cloud nine. I had so much energy it was almost jittery. Great for fatigue that stuff.

I wouldn't expect much herx but it's always safer to titrate in case of allergic reactions. You may have a herx to cat's claw.

Anything that raises immune function though, can definitely have the potential to cause a herx, so it's always better to be safe rather than sorry on how much to take!

I take cats claw and cordyceps and will be trying Houtt again soon. Should one only be taking one immune modulator? Am I overdoing it? Somehow I thought that we were supposed to do as many as we can.

Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) – CORE PROTOCOL
indications: prevention, acute onset, immune modulation

Cordyceps
indications: increases NK cell activity, reduces cytokine cascade

However I think you also take Stephania

Stephania Root (Stephania tetrandra, S. cepharantha)
indications: anti-spirochetals, Bell’s Palsy, neuroborreliosis, memory and cognitive dysfunction, eye involvement (Ocularborreliosis), Lyme arthritis, Lyme carditis (with angina and arrhythmia), immune modulation, headaches

I'm using Cordyceps (tincture). Once again, when taking 5 herbs at a time, its hard to pin point what is working and what is not.

But I think we focus too much on that. All these herbs have been proven to work and work for the vast majority of the people they researched on. So it probably is "working" for you.

I think we put too much stock on trying a new herb and if we don't feel terrible after, then "it's not working".

I think not feeling worse is also a good sign. There's some herbs in protocols that help us detox (so maybe that is working very well). There's some herbs that prevent cytokine cascades/the inflammation it causes, so perhaps that is work very well.

I tried not to get too caught up in the weird "reverse" confirmation. I feel worse, so it's working really well. How about I feel not worse (or better even) so the protocol is working well?

herxed on cats claw - that and japanese knotweed really got things improving...
