lyme and blood sugars

Hi I was wondering if anyone else has had similiar problems.

A few years ago i diagnosed my self as diabetic trying to find out what was wrong with me and thought i had finally found the problem. But with everything under control a1c was 5.9-6.0 for over a year but things kept getting worse(sugars were good just my body kept going downhill) and then i found out i have lyme bart and now it looks like babs too.

I never felt the diabetes and my symptoms ever lined up nor did the docs as i had to find out myself. My problem is since i have started treating lyme bart and now on babs treatment my sugars have been all over the map where as they were like clock work before the abx. Ive started treatment in jan and since then my a1c went to 6.6 and i go next week for my next and im scared cause i know my numbers are way higher again. Ive had weeks where i had to eat way more to not go hypo and then ive had days where i ate almost nothing and still could not get them to come down but lately since treating bart and babs its just high pretty much all the time i cant even guess what my numbers are where before i would have an idea just on what i ate that day. Ive tried to find some kind of common ground but nothing lines up. I could be low on a painful day and low on a good day etc. I thought about upping my diabetes meds but i had 1 day out of the blue where i woke up in the middle of the night and was hypo 2.8(50 us numbers) which had never happened.

This lyme and co are totally kicking my butt but these blood sugars arent helping but the docs up here are totally useless or at least in my experiance and are a total waste of time ive had to figure everything out on my own so far. I have to go for my a1c in a week and not sure what will happen. He dont believe in lyme but seems like no dr.s up here do problem is i have to get meds for the diabetes from him and i know he wont like the numbers last time i was in he was trying to get me on antidepressants.... All i want to do is heal and do the things i cant anymore that i use to love to do. Just fyi this started for me 3 years ago i was 35 years old 6'1 and just shy of 190# was or thought i was fit healthy and active now i cant do nothing down to 178# cant seem to gain weight have had to quit sports etc

No not much for supplements the llnd only wants me on his protocol says too many things can weaken the abx etc. So as of right now im on clindamycin, quinine and cryptolesis and 3 diff probiotics and gliglizde for the diabetes. Just stopped rifampin, doxy and bactrim.

As for detox ive tried a few diff things lemon water dry brushing epsum salt baths etc. The only one i see results from are the baths and some days when the pain is bad its a couple times a day sometimes upto 2 hrs long. The weird thing with the baths i can lose 3# in a bath from sweating usually is 2#.

Im from northern bc i went to a llnd in calgary(900km from me) first had to wait 4 months to get in then when i went she was on mat leave and had a locum what a waste of time that was. I was then referred to one in richmond (1200 km away). Most likely the same guy.

Oh - so have you seen the LLND in Richmond already?

Was it the LLND who prescribed the Quinine and Clindamycin? So, you're treating for Babesia.

I figured maybe i would post my results from igenex no they werent cdc positive and the locum i saw in the beginning told me it was a good thing i didnt have lyme...... Dont understand how these so called educated people know nothing about lyme anyway here were my results. Co infection panel was done and was all negative as well. After i was told it wasnt lyme i ordered the epitope test and it came back positive also but Dr. C said even without that he prob treat me based on this and symptoms he also said the co infection panel is a waste of money too inaccurate. So in the end my igg was igenex positive but if both my 39's would of been a full positive i woulda been cdc positive but really what does that matter anyway igenex up here in canada means nothing to most.

The numbers not listed showed nothing. In all the reading i have done i havent seen much to do with lyme and blood sugars so i dont know if they are related or not but it sure seems to be for me. I can only wish once this is all done my body will go back to normal if thats even possible. Was hoping to hear from someone else that may be having a similiar battle with their sugars and how it has turned out.

No he says it prob has something to do with the infection just to keep an eye on it and ride it out more or less. Which is what ive been doing but its what my regular doc is gonna say when he gets the next a1c is what im afraid of. I dont know how much power he has or what he could do he knows im being treated for lyme but doesnt necessarily agree i hope he cant interfere with it in someway because of my sugars.... Im hoping it sorta sorts it self out once the infection in under control but im not at that point yet.

I was kinda hoping someone else maybe has been there done that and maybe had some things i may try to help with it that had worked for them. Think im going to try apple cider vinegar next but not sure what effects some of this may have on my abx i dont wanna cancel anything out. I need to treat the reason my sugars are high first not what they are. If i can fix the reason i wont need to worry about the rest. Seems like the drs do it all backwards and only want to treat symptoms not the root cause even if it has to gets worse before it gets better. Thats if it gets better i dunno.....

He doesnt know where or who is treating me only that i am being treated for it and he asked what i was on once and i felt obliged to tell him in case it interacted with something else. When i told him you could tell he thought i was crazy for being on that much abx. In the same breath i think hes an idiot for wanting me to do nothing and to sit back and have no life.... Ive switched drs around a bunch a while ago but got tired no one seems to believe in it and all i do is waste my time so ive stuck with the last one for now. Just after my last a1c he blamed everything on it going up but i know this one is gonna jump even more then last time but i feel its worth it if theres a chance i can get better in the end.

I only started the clindamycin and quinine on thursday but havent noticed anything from either of them good or bad. But ive had no issues with any of the abx which i guess is a good thing. The cryptolepsis on the other hand just going from 5 to 10 drops is killer, I guess other then my sugars are even higher again... But I dont know what from exactly.

Hmm in my case i think bart or babs or lyme might like the pancreas it appears im not resistant to insulin that was an eye opener when they put me on insulin and i almost never made it home after a walk with the dogs the first night i took 5 units at supper. It apprears my pancreas can still make insulin and ive had the antibodies test done to see if i was type one which was negative. Just seems now i need a pill to tell it to make it but since the abx started even thats all messed up.

I was first diagnosed as type 2 then as lada now as mody but with no testing more or less guessing by the internist i had to demand the blood test to see if i was type 1 or not. They told me the testing for mody wasnt worth it that it was diagnosed whether the treatment worked or not which it did. I took a pill and i made insulin and my sugars were normal for over a year. In his eyes i was fixed even though all my complaints were still getting worse my blood sugars seem to have nothing to do with them.

In the beginning i was on metformin but it didnt do much for me. There is different types of MODY(materity onset diabetes of the young) but the one they say i have (hope i get this right) is due to a gene mutation and the beta cell that tells your pancreas to make insulin mutate and no longer due their job and the end result is you dont make insulin. Some say mody is type 1.5 some still call it type 2 etc.

But glicilzide is a a drug(diff family then metformin) that basically does what the beta cell was suppose to do and it seemed to work for me up untill the abx started. Since then ive been all over the map but latey am on the high side of things.

There is teating for this gene mutation but it sounds like its super expensive and they can only test for 6 of the 9 possible mutations so it may not show up anyway. So if the prescription works thats what ya got whether or not it could be something else causing this.

Now if its MODY from what ive been told it should run in the family and although diabetes does none have it like me. My Dad and some of his siblings got type 2 when they hit 50-60 and they will still eat stuff i cant think of eating to this day and metformin is all they need and it works fine for them.

They also say normally you get this before your 25 same as LADA(latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) but is possbile to 50 just not as common.

where as type 2 you become resistant to the insulin so you require way more and over time you burn out your pancreas and it doesnt make enough. So most type 2 use metformin which is suppose to make you more sensitive to insulin.

Anyway this is how I understand it. Hope it sorta makes sense.

Funny like 3-4 years ago i knew nothing about the human body and i didnt care too but im having to learn the hard way because it seems like the drs dont care, they have no intent on finding a problem and only want to treat symptoms.... but maybe thats just the way our health care makes them do it to make the pharmaceutical companies rich.
