I was one of the really lucky mothers that was unknowingly infected when I was having children. I lost the first 3 pregnancies and carried the last two to full term - actually full term + as I was pregnant for 10 months with each of them!
Not fun by the way!!
I did raise my kids on a farm where we raised everything we ate, except the wheat for flour, sugar and some of the other basics of that nature, but we didn't eat out, we made all our own bread, dairy products and even raised our own meat - so it was a completely organic diet, without any processed foods. I believe this strengthened their immune systems to the point that if I did pass on any infections to them, they are being kept under control by their immune systems. They are in their early 30's now and still healthy - as long as they eat appropriately. They have noticed that if they start taking short cuts in their diets, they start to suffer from nondescript
symptoms, and quickly go back to eating good again.
But, speaking as someone that had to grow up with these infections interfering in every aspect of my life, it's simply not worth the risk to try to have children without at least making sure that you are in remission if you can, or being in some treatment that is safe for pregnant women if it's a "surprise".
