Epsom salt baths are a popular option for those trying to rid themselves of toxins. I did them for a bit but too many times I've had bad reactions to it making some of my main symptoms worse. I wrote them off recently after trying repeatedly to do them and went to the foot soaks. I've also tried taking Bactrim and not far in had really bad reactions to it as well.
Well I ran my 23andme data through GeneticGenie.com and it shows my CBS C699T gene is +/-. Quoting from an article I ran across this is what it says about people with this mutation below. Now my mutation doesn't mean everyone has this issue but my experiences correlate pretty strongly.
"For those with the CBS defect, avoid magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts), MSM, and Chrondroitin whenever possible. Some sulfur is necessary and even beneficial when taken in at low doses, though generally, may be harmful in higher doses. On the other hand, a bit of garlic, milk thistle, & horsetail are advantageous in smaller doses. It is prudent to choose wisely. "
I think the 23andme test run through Promethease and GeneticGenie has some really useful information that can help tailor your treatment plan for a complex disease like Lyme/co-infection.
