Thank you, Psilociraptor, as I'm one of the ones that just got worse and worse. The symptoms actually cycle, so while a person may feel better from time to time, over time, it keeps coming back. I was infected for 40 years before I finally got into effective treatments, and I had many "cycles" like this. The desperation would grow each time I would end up back in bed for weeks at a time and I do have some damage that is/was permanent.
These are active infections, and while they can go dormant for some people, when they return (as they will until we heal and are careful to do all the right things to keep us healthy) the symptoms and the damage just continues to get worse.
I have tried to asses how this could have happened with me since first getting infected and sick 30 years ago. Without treatment I must add. At first I was a zombie, unable to get my little girl ready for school, clean, nothing other than running to the e.r. at least once a week thinking I was having a heart attack, and at the Dr's. so often he put me on tranquilizers.
Between then and now I trained two young horses for myself and my daughter to ride. I have
opened and ran by myself 2 retail businesses, the first of which during the final year also worked part time as a back up cook and wrote, edited and had published a horse and cattle tabloid.
In between the years of the two businesses I had another major break down. I thought I had had a nervous breakdown I did, at that time get a Dr. to test me for Lyme, but was told it was a false positive.
I have had and have stretches of days where I can't even get dressed, comb my hair, anything.
I firmly believe and I know others here will agree, much depends on what our immune system is doing. Have we had stress that has affected it? Surgeries or other physical trauma? Emotional trauma?
Is our age beginning to factor in? Environment? Other possibly unrelated health issues? Are we suffering from deficiencies, organ stress and dysfunction? It all adds up to possible periods of seemingly symptom free to spiraling down to feeling like death is imminent. Or we wish it was.
ETA, I just finished reading a later post of yours and I see I basically parroted what you already said. What's that saying about
'great minds'? :)
