and yet, another question about treating without symptoms

this situation is a little different.

i literally just found out my cousin (who is a dancer) has been performing in the woods in Beacon, NY for the past 3 weeks. Just lovely, bc beacon is where I got bitten, which is in Dutchess county, which was rated as having the hightest number of lyme cases in the country back in 2012

sooo.....what should i tell her and the other dancers to do? her mom is asking if they should treat anyway? (like with doxy for 6 weeks)

yes, i do know about the astralagus, but don't you have to take that indefinitely? or can it just be taken for 3 months - would this work in their case as a preventative measure?

i am just so worried - what if my cousin walks out of the woods with no sure sign of anything and then months later the symptoms roll in. She is at " high risk" right now, i mean her dances involve her moving along trees and bushes and everything - she is literally in the middle of the woods!!! I alerted them about all of this, and now they are confiding in me.

HELP!!!

Buhner says to use 1,000 mgs daily in divided doses as a preventive, but if bit or if symptoms start, bump up to 3,000 mgs daily in divided doses. This is what IV been using for about 2 years now.

I'm against chasing down a disease without symptoms.

That being said, if she develops any peculiar symptoms at any point in her lifetime, it'd be wise to remember her time in the forest there, and consider Lyme treatment right away.

If I was bit, I would take the 4 weeks of antibiotics...why wait until symptoms....don't let it get to that point down the road.

This is something I seriously worry about. My fiance works in the field and has been bit by many more ticks than I have. I see some recent mild petechia and know she has exaggerated period cramps and hashimotos, but nothing overtly lyme. It's almost tougher not knowing how to address this than knowing its straight up lyme.

If you've been bit definitely get treatment, regardless of symptoms.
But the question is whether to treat just because someone is hanging out in a Lyme-heavy area.

she lives in the city - so this is a one time deal for her ( I think!)

thanks gals - I will send over the info on astragalus - I have the book at home, but does anyone have a link to the explanation of this herb and why it is good as preventative? my cousin wants me to send her all the info I have. All i have online is the Buhner site where it gives the doses, but no explanation

mustard seed - I hear ya, but taking an herb that would not do any harm regardless I think is well worth it!
