How many health professionals do you have on your team?

I agree! Seems like the more eyes you have the better. Everyone has something different to add. As long as the are all Lyme friendly and they are willing to consider the other professionals view. You don't want conflicting points of view that might fight each other or make things worse.

I have just one. LLMD.

Ugh... great topic. But gives me a headache. Although I know I've been lucky for the most part with really, really great MDs. Before lyme ruined my life I was the kind of person who saw my gyn once a year and that was it. Didn't take any meds... ran 5 mi a day... danced... loved life.

Now?

Lyme specialist (THE BEST but she just closed her practice Thursday so I'm in a mild panic)

Gastroenterologist (AWESOME, lyme-literate)

Neurologist (AWESOME, lyme-friendly)

Naturopath (AWESOME, lyme-friendly)

Cardiologist (AWFUL, Devil's spawn - sent his bill back unpaid with a long letter of complaints of inadequate service and insults I didn't realize were on his list of provided services)

Opthalmologist Don't know yet

Gyn

3 diff pharmacists

I also saw a epilepsy specialist and a rheumy.

And I'm almost ready to look for a lyme-specialist counselor/psychiatrist to help with these neuro-psycho herxes. I wanted to do this when I started but I literally could not manage one more appt...

LLND - prescribes my antibiotics

2nd LLND - deciding whether to switch to her...or not...jury's still out - may do IV glutathione with her...or LDI...or maybe plead my case for her to ask my GP to prescribe malarone.

GP (PCP) - isn't lyme literate but is accepting and supporting my diagnosis with lab work.

Physiotherapist - isn't lyme literate...but is accepting lyme diagnosis and helping with my atrophy/frozen shoulder.

Have been flying up and seeing a D.O. for eight years. This year I found out he is a LLMD too. He's my one stop for everything Doc.

For mundane things, I go to an emergency clinic. Found out that most docs want to 'fix' my thyroid. The clinics are only looking at the cut that needs stitching or help with a fever.

Checking in - nice ask.

My GP - provides emotional support, not lyme literate, will give referrals I ask for
Therapist - we don't even go into the lyme
Psychiatrist - not his area, gave him a brochure about euro-lyme, phasing out of using a psychiatrist

Other than that, all alone.

Hear almost every day of someone who knows someone in my area who has lyme, and has to travel 2 hrs. a way to see someone. I just don't have the energy for that schlep, nor the money.

I hope that doesn't sound too sad...or pathetic...

but... this is where I come with questions and supplement with reading on the internet.

The beginning of treatment utilized 2 consecutive LLMD's, an accupuncturist, and an Electrodermal Screening Practitioner.

2 LLMD's- They were of some help in that they demonstrated that they could beat down the pathogen load. Heather had terrible herxes until I personally detoxed her. This was not a long term solution as they were not able to offer any expertise in helping her body to take over and heal.

Heather could not tolerate accupuncture, even from a highly trained and reputable practitioner.




The team that worked very well for us was as follows:

Hansa Center- Dr. Jernigan and then later Dr. Jowdy. They provided the core of Heather's treatment. Their testing and treatments carry the broad label of "alternative", but goes way beyond that label in scope.

Chiropractor

Biological Dentist- applied Oral System Balancing (OSB) which was the last obstacle to obtaining normal Ananomic Nervous System Function. Dr. J. first detected the issue in her mouth and told us to enlist the help of a Biological Dentist.

Craniosacral Therapist- in conjunction with OSB

Reflexologist- application of Reflexology foot massage to stimulate lymphatic flow

LLMD- an "integrative" physician that is very supportive to what we have accomplished at the Hansa Center and other alternative approaches. He has done very little of any hands-on treatments, did not treat Heather's LD, but understands her history and situation. He has done a lot of blood testing and monitoring of Heather. His testing and diagnoses confirms that which is performed at the Hansa Center. He superintends and monitors Heather's hormone replacement therapy.


Since Heather has been healed but has had a bad concussion we have enlisted the help of a few other practitioners recently:

Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor

MD- that is LL literate and also specializes in brain injuries. He administered nutrient-rich IV's to facilitate healing in brain.

Brain State Technologies- to normalize brain waves that were locked into a permanent state of "fight or flight". The hansa Center also provides this treatment, but we didn't have enough time to spend at the Hansa Center for the entire course of this treatment. Dr. J. recommended that Heather go to Brain State. The treatment was very effective.

Hansa Center- Dr. Jowdy diagnosed sluggish blood and lymphatic flow on left side of Heather's head, neck, and upper torso. Mission accomplished!!!

Yes,we have spent a small fortune,but she is well today! Pharmaceuticals and a few herbs could barely touch Heather's situation. My wife and I are very independent minded and take things into our own hands.
