Hi Everyone, thanks for all your support. I am new to this awful lyme business. I have a question. When you feel really hot and feverish it is a herx/result of die off or is it the infection itself? Thank you. I also get episodes of heavy sweating.

It can be one or the other or both.
I sweat intermittently daily (symptom) and when I herx I sweat more and more frequently.

That is one of the most frustrating things with Lyme. It is so hard to know which it is. Be sure you are detoxing. If it is herx that will help you.
As time goes by you will probably be a little better at reading the difference.
Herx will often make symptoms worse and can also introduce new symptoms.

Totally agree with the others.

Have you checked for high viral loads? It's summertime, is the environment a factor? I get hot & sweaty just thinking about
getting hot & sweaty.

Did you just recently get lyme? Because I was this way when I initially was sick. I had fevers on and off, and sweat a ton. And this was before I knew about
Lyme and before I was treating or detoxing.
Are you already treating? If you are treating then as the others said it is difficult to tell the difference between the infection and a herx, but you will understand in time. That is what we are here for, to help you!
Sorry you are dealing with this, but glad you found this group!!

In my experience the infection tends to settle with time and migrate. In other words new symptoms come but old ones lessen as the local immune response is suppressed. So for me it's easy to tell because if I'm getting new symptoms I know my infection is advancing, if I'm getting old symptoms AND treating then I know I'm just herxing because those tissues were already infected years ago without any changes until the addition of an antimicrobial. And when i stop taking it they always recede.

When I first got lyme I was constantly taking my temperature. I swore I had a fever. I was so hot.
