I was asked a question on another forum about brain fog and I touched on a few things that some people here may like to read. I go by Polyamine on that forum.

My story is too long but the success is there. As for maintaining muscle, you won't. I was a body builder when I got sick. You couldn't tell by seeing me now. I propose things here because I feel they will work. I could go into the physiology and research behind it if you like, it's complicated and most people don't understand it. Joe and a few others probably would. You asked specifically about brain fog and that often is from an accumulation of ammonia in the body. Up to 40 grams of ammonia per day can be absorbed through the portal vein in the GI tract as a buffer to a highly acidic environment. Animal protein and A LOT of the food we eat are acidic and when combined with quinolinic acid as a by product of the cytokine cascade, our pH goes down. Our body buffers that pH to the best of its ability and gets help from the gram negative anaerobes in the GI tract. These beneficial gram negative anaerobes become pathogenic at one point. There are numerous places in our biological pathways where deficiencies can occur and you most likely have some of those deficiencies.

I didn't choose the name Polyamine at random, they are a major problem we have, or at least I have. Many of the people on this board are the same with varying degrees of issues. When the ionization state of extracellular spermidine changes due to a lower pH and it becomes spermine, intracellular transit is arrested and extracellular nitrogen wasting occurs. That protein and its nitrogens have to be eliminated. NO comes into play but, long story short, during chronic inflammation, our body can struggle with nitrogen processing. Eating animal protein adds more nitrogen that must be processed, increases gram negative anaerobes that increase ammonia production and absorption, and adds to a lower pH because they are acidic.

Health is very complex, yet it is very simple. In the Pythagorean Theorem, A2 + B2 = C2. You can always find the hypotenuse of a right triangle if you have the length of the sides. Health is the same way, it just has a much bigger formula. To simplify, I like to say C2 is health and A2 and B2 are the variables. A2 is nutrients like vitamins an minerals. There are too many to list here. B2 is genetic functioning. If you have all your nutrients and vitamins and your genetics are working correctly, then you will be healthy. There are toxins that can disrupt this equation, there are foods that disrupt this equation, there are deficiencies that disrupt this equation, there are pathogens that disrupt this equation, but all of these affect the variables in the equation. The way to get healthy is to correct the imbalances and/or decrease the items that disrupt the equation.
