I've noticed that a few of you have indicated your frustration with your doctor revealing/giving you your test results timely. I remember one poster stating that their doctor was making them wait for their next appointment which was about a month away.

I called Igenex the other day and I asked them about patients receiving test results. What they said was that they mainly fax the results to your doctor, BUT if you call them and give them your address they WILL mail you a copy of the results.

That's interesting.

When I had mine done - 2014 - they said they couldn't give them to me - they would only send them to the Dr,who had ordered them..and I ended up fighting with the LLND's office...as I was not going there (over 3 hour drive) to pick them up...since I wasn't planning on another appointment with her.

I wonder if things have changed since then?...or does it depend on who you talk to at Igenex?

I guess it has. Perhaps they are getting a lot of inquiries about it. I mean if we can get lab results once their sent to our doctor then by gosh, we should be able to get these results.

I know! It is our test result...should be given to us.

I've been getting all my 'regular' lab work online for over a year now...no visit to my Dr. needed.

One of the good things to come out of the Affordable Care Act is the requirement to release medical records to the patient upon request....whether or not the doctor has seen them.

Since IGeneX is located in the USA, they must abide by federal law.

And, any doctor refusing to release records before an appointment is obviously in violation of that law.

So, maybe that U.S. law has them releasing everyone's (including us that aren't Americans) - much easier to have it across the board.

Actually with relation to the release of lab records, this is covered under the HIPAA privacy rule not the ACA.
