I now know I had Lyme 25 years ago, although docs were confounded then. Thanks to the internet, I now see I had Babesia and probable Bartonella along with the Lyme. Doctors had no idea what to do, and no meds helped. I was bedridden for 3 months before I went to a master herbalist who did muscle testing, which gave me a combo of herbs which matched my needs. Still, no diagnosis, but the strong combo did help me significantly over the course of 1.5 years. I started going to her classes to understand what I was taking and why. The short version is that our bodies need to do some foundational cleansing, which means a variety of detox herbs, anti candida herbs, colon cleansing (such as psyllium powder) and a very cleaned up diet (Paleo with tons of veggies is a good start). After doing some detox work, the herbalists tend to move into cleanses for parasites. None of this should cause diarrhea, but may have slightly looser stools. From that point, they tend to alternate candida cleanses with parasite cleanses, adding in herbs specific for immune system. If you do not know where to start, I can tell you what I do when I flare, and I do have small flares here and there. I go back to the original patterning that worked for me: CandiGone for 2 weeks (always with fiber powder), break for a couple days, one more go. Then I do ParaCleanse from Natures Sunshine for 10 days, CandiGone for 2 weeks, ParaCleans for 10 days, and then I reassess. This may sound like a lot, but these products are prepackaged into drops or capsules, and you scoop out a spoonful of powder into a large glass to drink for fiber. You start with once per day, then move to twice per day. That's it. Always an hour before a meal, not with food. For me, it is a no-brainer. I've never had a downside to this approach. Sometimes I need to repeat or add in other herbals, but with the pre-packaged sets it gives me time to figure out what to do next. Each set runs in the range of $35-50. I do this kind of set about twice per year, based on how I'm feeling. This is not exact science for me, and this is only what works for me. I've seen it work for others when i was taking those classes all those years ago, so I've seen the benefits of doing focused cleansing to get the body ready for other new layers.
