Will antibiotics affect test results?

I'm on vacation and today started with a very tender and painful gland under left jaw. I happen to have some amoxicillian that I hadn't finished from an infection I had back in Feb. I am tempted to go ahead and take the amoxy - but don't want it to alter test results. I will get tested when we back from vacation in a few days.

You all are so knowledgeable here so would appreciate ant input you may have.

Those are painful - I used to get them every other week when I was younger - and you feel it all of the time due to chewing or drinking, talking, swallowing, lying down, you can get away from them!

I agree w/ blueberrymuffin - for some people, some abx can inhibit the immune response, which the test relies upon 100%. The tests are bad enough as it is - you don't want to offer help. ;)

Also, I would approach the swollen glands in a different way - with circulation and inflammation help. I know this is inconvenient while on vacation but if you can get to a health food store, try finding something for lymph, circulation and/or inflammation. Red root is good, too. Hot compresses might also be helpful but not too hot.

So - that is a good question and made me look RED ROOT up again because I can't remember what I read last time.

The herbal component is actually derived from the hearty, deep red colored roots of a shrub called "wild snowball" and was substituted as tea during the Civil War... so there's a little bit of history for you.

Red root worked wonders for me when my lymph nodes were swollen since it clears lymph fluid. You'll want to slowly increase the dose.

Another method for moving lymph is a cold shower - I am so not kidding. If an entire shower is too much, you could do what I do: cold rinse ;)
