jiggly---
as others have shared, having Lyme & co AND a yeast/fungal overgrowth can really complicate your treatment because so many sx overlap. Also, the damage caused by y/f can do a number on your gut. Your gut is where 70% of your immune system lies - we need a functioning immune system to help us out - no treatment can get rid of the infection on its own.
Also, we take nearly all of our nutrition, support and treatment orally! So if we have absorption problems, which is common w/ y/f overgrowth and other GI damage, we're chasing our tails.
This is why it's encouraged to nip the y/f in the bud first, then focus on healing the gut and thereby boosting your immune function and overall health. Then, you're more ready for lyme & co treatment.
Some people are already deep into treatment when they develop a y/f overgrowth from all of the abx. In that case (depending on how bad the overgrowth is), you still need to target y/f specifically but you might be able to treat it simultaneously. Some pause treatment to get y/f under control and then resume. Some people aren't aware of y/f overgrowth until they hit a plateau w/ lyme & co treatment and troubleshoot and troubleshoot and can't figure out how to get over the hump and eventually start treating y/f successfully. Each person is different.
