Expert Lymies: ABX done. Of these herbs which would you start with?

Dearest experts,

Tomorrow I am done with my doxcy. (so happy the long slog is over). This is what I have ordered and presently have on hand. I want to give myself a few days and then begin. Please advise which herb or herbs you would begin with. I know to start slowly and with one drop. Thanks so much.

Samento
Japanese Knotwood

Pinella - detox
Burbur - detox
Japanese Knotweed - detox/anti-inflammatory/anti-microbial
Samento - anti-microbial geared towards Lyme
Banderol (spaced away from Samento) - anti-microbial geared towards Bart

Huddie, I am glad you are done with the Doxy! Yay!

I would do those the same way CD said. The pinella and burbur you probably won't have to be quite as careful with. They seem to be pretty gentle IMHO.

Thank you! Can you suggest the best way to start? Pinella/Burber then work my way up? Are ALL of them too much to take? Obviously I would begin at once. Do you happen to know if they cause bad herxing? Thanks

Huddie, In case CD doesn't see this. I just did one at a time for 3-4 days and then started in on the next one. I did 1 drop 3 times a day to start moving up by a drop every 3 days or so.

Watch for an increase in symptoms (herx) or an allergic reaction. If you have a herx go back to the previous dose of that herb and stay there for a few days before moving up in the dose. If you have an allergic reaction quit taking it entirely. For instance...I tried Kudzu and got a very itchy rash on my back. I set it aside for a couple weeks and then tried it again. It did it again so I won't be taking that one.

I would not start a combination of herbs. If you have a reaction of any type, you'll never know which herb was to blame. One herb at a time.

We recommend starting with one drop of one herb and then waiting a few days to gauge response. If all is going well, add another drop at another time during the day and wait. Increase once more until you are up to 1 drop 3-4x times daily and then do the same thing with the next herb on the list.

Wash/rinse/repeat until you have the entire protocol going at low doses and then slowly increase in the same manner. The herbs have synergy - they enhance the actions of each other.

You'll find you'll be able to increase some herbs faster than others. If you herx and cannot lessen the herx by detoxing, go back to the previous dose of whatever herb you increased.

I've read reports on here from people herxing on Pinella and/or Burbur. Everyone responds differently - even to the detox herbs.

Slow and low is the way to go.

Thanks you guys. Will do but now I am a little nervous. How bad are these herxes? No one has ever died from herbs right? These are small amounts we're talking about. I am super sensitive and believe in natural medicine more than abx. but don't know the herbal world. I think I'll start with Pinella.

No deaths from herbs, Huddie.

Instead of worrying, try to focus on the money you'll save by taking lower doses.

There are members on here who have healed using 1/4 doses of Buhner's herbs. It's all about finding the dose that works for the individual. Buhner continually emphasizes this in all of his books.

Listening to your body will bode well for you. If anything doesn't feel right in any way, go back to the dose you were taking before that. You will heal on the dose(s) that are right for you.

And, if the abx were able to knock out the infection completely, you won't herx...and the herbs will bring you to full healing.

Healing isn't just about killing the bugs. In fact, that's the last thing on the priority list. We need to reduce the inflammation caused by the bugs, detox the toxins and get the immune system functioning better.

That's where herbs come in. It's basically a holistic approach for healing.

Take things easy and let the herbs do their thing ;)

Huddie, I have not herxed often because I was cautious. And when I did it was manageable with detox. Go really slow and you will probably be fine. Remember that you can always stop or step back on the dose for a few days. Thats the nice thing with herbs. Nothing is written in stone! You are the boss!

Because you are sensitive I would only do one drop a day instead of 1 drop 3 x a day like I did.

I drank those by the dropper full...try some andrographis or lomatium or smilax ...now thats a herx......oh like keebler says i used to be a person, now with borreliosis and other multple systemic infections ,...not a lymie !

Thank you guys. I REALLY appreciate the guidance, expertise and feedback. I usually not such a worrier and take a holistic approach to most things healing. That said I do not know the 'herb' world and my husband is concerned I am taking advice from non-doctors. I laughed and said "If you ever get Lyme disease you will understand how backwards this is in the medical world." Ok starting with Pinella and will work my way up. Have a great weekend everyone. And Bluylyme sorry for all the icky stuff you have to take - hope it is is better now.

(I took pinella and burbur when I was on abx...)

Hi Huddie,

Good for you for stopping the Doxy! Based on my experience and people I know I would first concentrate on just detoxing alone in order to get the rest of the Doxy out of your system.

As far as herbs/botanicals I used Borrelogen years ago which was tested by IgeneX and I believe another lab that found more dead lyme bacteria compared to abx (you can google LUAT test). If you want the link to the testing let me know.

Borrelogen did wonders for me! As far as a botanical to bind up toxins I used Neuro-Antitox CNS/PNS Formula which bound up not only toxins but also ammonia which is a byproduct of dead lyme bacteria. I also did the detox baths, dry skin brushing, sauna, etc.

That's what worked for me after trying other herbs such as Samento, etc. Try what you have and if you don't feel better you can always try something else.

Thank you guys! I'll start herbs tomorrow. Deejavu, I will research the Borrelogen. For now I will start with what I have because between the herbs, books and supplements I have spent a small fortune. Thank you so much. I will definitely pay if forward but will have to have a bit more experience under my belt. I am too confused by Lyme to help anyone right now. Not sure how you guys figured out all this herbal stuff and which protocol is best - but I am grateful that you have.

Yes, herbs (botanicals) do cost money. I was really shocked after taking Borrelogen for a couple of weeks and I felt like my old self coming back, yeah, I still remember that feeling!

Dr. David Jernigan invented Borrelogen (he had chronic lyme himself). When I took it the cost was $48.00 for the bottle which lasts 30 days.
