dbwilco- thanks so much for the link to Dr. Mercola's presentation of the Under Our Skin 2 documentary! I just watched it in its entirety, and it was superb.
Our family has been rescued from the living h*ll that increasing numbers of other families are entering into. However, watching this documentary
opened up old wounds. My demeanor alternated between moments of sadness with tears to moments of anger with desire to shake certain health care elite by the neck! I am a Christian, and take seriously the admonition to "love they enemy," but I confess that I struggle with an attitude of utter contempt for the IDSA, insurance companies, and others.
I could write a book about
the thoughts that have surfaced in the last 2 hours. I will spare you, and just share a few. I am writing from a perspective of care, compassion, and transparency. I am adhering strictly to forum rules, yet perhaps may ruffle a few feathers. Hopefully nobody will misconstrue my motives.
First I want to say that watching Mandy Hughes lying in bed throwing her head back and forth while other parts of her body involuntarily moved, struck me as identical to what Heather experienced for about
4
months. I noticed that Mandy was under treatment with I.V. ABX. Likewise, Heather was under treatment with several high adult dosages of oral ABX. We felt that Heather was dying at that point, and it was excruciating to watch her suffer. Fortunately we later changed treatment approach, and there was no more of that nonsense.
Another thing in the documentary that I strongly identify with is the strain that the long grim battle exacts on intra-family relationships. While we didn't get divorced, there was extreme duress between Heather and the two parents, and likewise between the two parents. All parties have been forever changed- for better and for worse. We have looked to God to heal the wounds, and continue to do so.
Now comes some of my political/philosophical reflections stimulated by the documentary. These reflections are the fruit of an evolving retrospective 8 year experience ever since we first came to know that Heather had Borreliosis Syndrome with related illnesses.
I want everyone to know that I believe that there indeed is hope for those with the illness. It's not my desire to squelch hope for anyone. In fact, my daughter is well now, and living life to its fullest! The caveat, though, is that we were forced to find solution outside of governmental and mainstream medical system superintendence. With God's help, we called the shots, and utilized mainly "alternative" resources with a modicum of mainstream medical help where it we felt that it benefited Heather's interests.
I do not look to an increasingly centralized government and its appendage medical bodies for hope. Anyone is free to disagree with my facts, opinions, and conclusions. Historically focused scrutiny reveals that mankind has been organizing its existence with an increased centralization of life and activities. Central governments are increasing its share of the purveyance of the sum total of goods and services. That is fact. Unfortunately the world's citizens are increasingly becoming dependent upon the whims of their governments. Dependency is not yet absolute, but it is increasingly becoming difficult to escape the certainty of its shackles. I know from experience that it is difficult.
Many readers will reject my thoughts here, because their minds have been informed by the worldview that the "world's system" has inculcated them with. This worldview provides half of the impetus for centralization. In addition, the science and the best part of functioning human sensibilities also seem to be on their side. They believe that the only thing missing is generating the political will to find a solution, and to conquer the problem.
The other half of the driving force for centralization is the human greed for power and material gain, as is exercised by the world's social elite. This can be seen whether it be Stalin's Soviet Union, Mao's China, the unelected officials of the EU in Brussels, or the Imperial Presidency of the U.S. These individuals and governmental bodies are above the law, and act according to their own whims. They are found in all governments from fascist to totalitarian to democratic republics. Those that focus on the distinctions of these outward forms will miss the point of what I am about
to make.
I am not about
to insist that all world leaders are motivated by self-gain and nefarious intentions towards the citizens under his rule. However enough of the power-brokers do, which provides the force for the implementation of a system that abandons its desperate sick, such as is demonstrated in the documentary.
The truth is that the social elite believe that the earth is overpopulated, and that it would be better off if the "feeders" and socially inferior were to be eliminated. Everything from endless wars, immunizations, forced sterilizations, using people as human guinea pigs, and the denial of medical care demonstrate this truth. Furthermore, western governments are refusing to do anything truly meaningful to protect its citizens from the threat of terrorism. Its absolutely pathetic, but believe me, its intentional.
I have played the historian and simply illustrated recent historical developments, and commented on them. but where are we heading? From the logical and common sense perspective, we can connect the dots and project into the future. My one presupposition is that the social elite are not going to relinquish their control and agenda. Furthermore, the world's citizens have been educated and conditioned to fall right into their master's hands. Most people believe that the bigger government- the better. Just keep in mind that the bigger the government, the more power that you are ceding to its elite. And since the elite are not benevolently minded towards its citizens, the more power it has to fulfill its anti-humanity agenda. Those that clamor for government controlled health care have no idea what they are requesting!
My projection into the future has another source from which to draw as well. I am a Christian and believe in the prophetic factuality of future events of which the Bible speaks. The Bible portrays the centralization of human government as culminating is a single world government, and which in actuality is what the world has been clamoring for. People believe that if we would just come together, then we could at last work out our problems. However, the exact opposite will take place. There will be factious world war that is unprecedented in scale, as well as plague that is unprecedented in scale, that will wipe out a significant percentage of the world's population.
The point is that the more centralized the government is, the more harmful it is to the welfare of its citizenry. Space does not permit me to summarize the historical record of assaults upon the health of our citizens. Does anyone really believe that the U.S. government, for example, has good intentions towards the healthcare of its citizens? If you are considering that question through the filter of a worldview by which you were educated, then you may arrive at a quite different conclusion.
I realize that besides being indoctrinated to look to government for a solution, there are yet other factors that may mold your clamor for a political/governmental solution. Centralization tends to impoverish its citizens. For example I've been to Cuba. Its true that every Cuban citizen is guaranteed an adequate level of healthcare, but its citizens are dirt poor. I've been in an average Cuban home. Their average citizen lives at the level of our welfare class. Yet the social elite in Cuba live quite comfortable lives, if you belong to the "party". The masses of people have been indoctrinated, and believe in their centralized government.
The way that our centralized government has set things up has made healthcare very expensive. Our healthcare system exists in a larger context in which big government is increasingly reducing the earning power of American wage earners. Financial pressures are a huge pressure to look to a baseless hope that government will somehow be part of your solution.
I don't know why people continue to vote for politicians that are so corrupt. Even right now, one of our presidential candidates is one of the most corrupt individuals that I have ever seen. Yet polls indicate that this person is favored to win. Do you really believe that you can look to this person to wield government power from the top down to find a solution for you? Our judicial system acknowledges that others having commited similar crimes would be prosecuted, but they will not prosecute this person. The social elites are above the law, but the poor man serves time.
In summary, the majority of people would disagree with me because they are part of the same system that is mistreating them, but they don't realize it.
1) They are educated into a perspective of desiring to perpetuate it.
2) They fail to see that the system is impoverishing them, and making them dependent upon it
3) They continue to vote for corrupt socially elite politicians that continue to not have their best interests in mind, but they continue to vote for them. Yet these same citizens clamor for political solutions.... the incongruity of it all!
4) People have been stupefied with endless recreational pursuits and distractions, and thus cannot accurately perceive the world in which they live. Believe me, you are right where they want you.
The medical researchers/physicians in the documentary expressed hope for the future. They based that on media coverage and emerging science that they believe will swing the pendulum our way. it was beyond the scope of the documentary, so they barely delved into the greater context that I summarized above. I believe that their "hope" while noble, will never come to fruition.
My recommendation is to not give up on the political front, but to make other plans.
This is almost a Pirouette length blog! I haven't done this for a long time! Hopefully I didn't make anyone upset. When you start to question a worldview people become uneasy. I guess that you may be amazed that that documentary stimulated THIS kind of thinking!!!
I will leave you with this story:
On one occasion, so it was narrated, Stalin called for a live chicken and proceeded to use it to make an unforgettable point before some of his henchmen.
Forcefully clutching the chicken in one hand, with the other he began to systematically pluck out its feathers. As the chicken struggled in vain to escape, he continued with the painful denuding until the bird was completely stripped.
“Now you watch,” Stalin said as he placed the chicken on the floor and walked away with some bread crumbs in his hand. Incredibly, the fear-crazed chicken hobbled toward him and clung to the legs of his trousers.
Stalin threw a handful of grain to the bird, and it began to follow him around the room, he turned to his dumbfounded colleagues and said quietly, “This is the way to rule the people. Did you see how that chicken followed me for food, even though I had caused it such torture? People are like that chicken. If you inflict inordinate pain on them they will follow you for food the rest of their lives.”
Lesson? Don't be the chicken!
