As all new Lymies do I have been Googling Lyme for the past 1.5 months. At one point I came across an article on celebrities with Lyme. Don't really follow celebs but thought it hopeful if they can get the word out. The actress who played the daughter on The Sopranos was amongst them. Her name is Jamie Lynn Sigler. Just opened up Health magazine and there is an article on her 'secret illness' that she wants to be open about: MS. So was the Lyme thing all made up? She now says she has had MS for 15 years and no mention of ever having Lyme disease. No wonder lymies aren't always taken seriously. I wish her well and perhaps she just left that part out. Vent over.

Former “Sopranos” actress Jamie Lynn Sigler wrote about her experience with Lyme in her memoir “Wise Girl: What I’ve Learned about Life, Love, and Loss.” Although antibiotics helped the star recover after early detection, she has said the scare changed her life. “I realized it could all be taken away in a moment,” Sigler told the New Jersey Star-Ledger. “It’s hard to explain.”


hmmm... sounds like she never treated long enough...or she relapsed...doesn't it?

In 2000, while filming Campfire Stories in Hamburg, New Jersey, Sigler was paralyzed from the waist down for several days by Lyme disease.

In January 2016, Sigler revealed she has multiple sclerosis, having been first diagnosed when she was 20 years old.

She was born in 1981, so that means diagnosed for MS in 2001?

hmmm. a year or so after lyme disease?

I know the story doesn't make sense. What I read in the celeb/lyme piece is what you wrote in your response Girlie - also read about her being paralyzed but she said it was for several days and that she healed completely. Can't figure out if she really had MS and was misdiagnosed with Lyme, or...

You guys are the experts but can MS come on within one year of a bite? That seems very fast.

She got lyme ....not treated long enough - heck she was paralyzed...most likely on a couple weeks of antibiotics.

Either she relapsed...or just got worse...year or so later..diagnosed with MS instead of being told to go back on lyme treatment.


That's my story...and I'm a stickin' to it.

LOL! Sounds like it since she was all over talking about Lyme. Nothing in the press about MS. But can MS really come out after one year? AND she is a wealthy celebrity wouldn't she get the best LLMD? AND most importantly she would have said "I had Lyme a year ago!"

MS goes by symptoms, mri showing plaque in the brain.

She could easily have that after a year of lyme.

She probably didn't know about LLMD's....or about this forum...lol

There were several pieces about her talking about Lyme and all the stuff she did so she didn't just treat once. I was curious because I wanted to read the pieces for protocol info. I remember her, Alec Baldwin, Richard Gere, Amy Tan, Aviril Lavigne (sp?), George W. Bush and a few others. Did she ever say she was bitten? Any chance it was the MS coming out and not Lyme but they originally thought that? I would be pretty upset if at a young age I could have reverse Lyme and ended up with MS.

Your timeline is correct - here she mentions the MS diagnosis coming one year after Lyme. Frightening.

In another article she states that being pregnant was great because MS goes into remission during pregnancy - is this true of Lyme as well?

I don't know about lyme and pregnancy. But, there are hormonal changes during pregnancy...so maybe it does...
