Hi. Buhner does not have a protocol per se. Buhner recommends herbs based on symptoms and what you are trying to eradicate. All herbs don't work for everyone so essentially you form your own protocol based on the herbs that you choose. So person by person could be taking something different. As far as buying herbs Buhner does recommend some websites, however some people also purchase from websites/manufacturers that aren't on Buhner's list (e.g. Amazon).

Cowden does have a set protocol (products/schedule).

I purchased his books and they were overwhelming for me. I should add that it was at the beginning of Lyme and I was pretty overwhelmed with the learning curve to begin with. With Buhner I felt I needed to be an herbalist/botanist to understand all of it when I didn't even know what I had (which co-infections, etc...). There is a resource page in the back of his new book which lists herbalists who sell premade stuff. I may give that a try once I learn about my co-infections, main issues. I should add that before Lyme I have a pretty good working mind, love recipes and don't usually feel overwhelmed by learning something new. The book was just too much for me. That said he is awesome. I want him to start a center and we can all go live there and heal.

I've taken probably 20-25 different herbs recommended by Buhner (not all at the same time).

I have never found all of them available from a single company.

As Krimpet explained, those following Buhner's protocols basically craft individualized protocols for themselves based upon the infections they have and the symptoms they experience.

He lists recommended sources of supply at the end of every book and those were the only sources I used.

For tinctures, I mostly used Sage Women Herbs (slightly less expensive/fast shipping), Woodland Essence and Montana Farmacy (occasionally)

For bulk herbs (I make most of my own tinctures now and also use powder), I use 1st Chinese Herbs (10% discount if you type LYME in the promo code box ;), MontEagle Herbs and Mountain Rose Herbs (very reasonable and organic).

I used Green Dragon Botanicals Japanese Knotweed capsules and their Cat's Claw capsules at the very beginning of my time on Buhner's protocols.
