The neurologist says he now needs to "study" my case further before doing anything. I began symptoms 7 months ago but just the bullseye bite marks and sick with ALL that goes with the sick part. But it then took about 5 months till when doing my daily (EVERY single day) walk I collapsed Literally collapsed just a few houses away. I never made it to the city park I walked in every day after trying to recover from 6 spine fusions. Being 68 years old was/IS bad enough but now barely make to the bathroom alone without help.

I went from being the TOUGHEST old surf bum to a broken old man, uncontrollable crying with no real idea why? Constantly mourning the life I lost, ALL in the rearview mirror. I emailed my primary care doctor with this news of just these 2 bands showing positive. A few hours later he called and is starting me on doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 28 days if I agree. I DID so begin tonight. He is afraid it is WAY to late in my case, to help? But he offered me this until somebody gets "off the pot" to get something concretely diagnosed. If anyone has waited this long then began this treatment, PLEASE chime in to let me know if it helped at all or offer me ANY suggestions? Never been so desperate. Or scared. My God how I am scared...Can't believe a life can simply disappear before my very eyes this way. Lonliest feeling in my life. At least I have the love & support of the most amazing wife of 35+ years by my side. Now I just need to learn about this illness and find a specialist I guess.

Sorry I posted similar to this early today and ALL my info suddenly disappeared. Did I do something wrong, asking about this and get botted? If so, someone PLEASE tell me what I am doing wrong?

It is not too late to get treatment. It is never too late.

You have been sick for 7 months? That's not a real long time. I was 15 months, many have been ill for years before they get diagnosed and treated.

100 mg twice daily of doxy - is low - most LL Dr.'s will prescribe 200 mg twice daily, and you will need more than 28 days.

Yes, please find a LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) and schedule an appointment. We can help you find one..just start a new thread titled: "Looking for LLMD in/near_______" and fill in the blank.

Thank you. I imagine the dose is due to my extreme sensitivity to any & all drugs and we were both reading online "together" so to speak:-) He is beside himself and at least ADMITS he is clueless to this and will do 2 things. Help me start SOMETHING if I agree (of course I di I have been BEGGING for help)
2-Find me the specialist I need. I already gave all my info to the link you posted for help-said it may take up to 3 days. I live in the 4Th largest "market" demographic in the US, North San Diego California in Oceanside yet found no listing for literate Lyme specialists. Just my luck. Easy to find a surgeon who can do 6 spine fusions all at once using his Mazor Robot" for $500K but Lyme Disease? Guess no big bucks in that for him? Sorry, just a tad bitter after being butchered as I was....Thank you so much for the link and encouragement,

I didn't find your previous thread....is it possible you deleted it in error?

I have some names of LLMD's in San Diego...send me an email if you want the information.

We also have members that are in that area...if you start a new thread with the area in the title of your thread, these members will see it.
