Alternative to a milk based protein shake?

I haven't had dairy in years. I make my smoothies with coconut water. I use C2O brand of Young Thai Coconut (often in frozen section of health food store). I also make my own almond milk. Soak about 1/4 cup organic raw almonds for 24 hours (in water, in the fridge). Drain. Pour into blender (I use Vitamix). Add approx. 12-16 oz. of coconut water. Blend for about 2-3 minutes. Pour into a nut milk bag (that is in a large bowl). Squeeze all the 'milk' through. Rinse out the blender and pour the milk back in. I add a pinch of sea salt and two teaspoons of coconut oil. It is so much better than milk! I don't like store bought almond milk - this is so fresh and delicious. It only lasts 2-3 days though so do fresh batches. For protein I add Mediclear or Sun Warrior rice protein and spirulina manna. If you don't want to go through all the trouble of almond milk (which is really fast once you have it down), add a little coconut milk to coconut water for a creamier taste.

Any thoughts on Shakeology's vegan shakes? I used to make them a few years back when I was able to exercise heavily. Seems like it could be good for me now, too.

That is one expensive whey powder! Do you know if it has caesin (sp?) in it? Sounds like a great product.

I just bought some Flaxseed milk and it's actually pretty good although I put a drop of Stevia in it to sweeten the taste a little. I make a hot cereal out of quinoa flakes and it'll taste good in that!

I use Paleo Protein Egg White powder I get off amazon. Cheaper than Jay Robb and just as good. Ive been using it, creatine, 2gm Vit C and frozen blueberries every night before bed. I think its helped me maintain what weight I gained back(went from 172-146, now 155).
