Positive for Bart thru Quest but Dr says no??

I'm very confused about my test results. It says

B.Henselae IgG Screen Positive
B.Henselae IgM Screen Negative
B.Henselae AB IgG TITER 1:64H Ref range <1:64

Also have Mycoplasma Pneumoniae

M. PNEUMONIAE AB IGM 1037 H U/mL
M.PNEUMONIAE AB (IGM) Positive
M.PNEUMONIAE AB (IGG),EIA >5.00 H Ref range <=0.90

So, Bart doesn't go away on it's own, right? He said it was an old infection. I told him I had cat like scratches when I was a kid and into the early 90's. I have had a rash for the last 3.5 years that no Dr. can figure out. What can I do? And what the heck is Mycoplasma PNEUMONIAE and how do I treat it? I've been feeling out of breath for about 2 months, and sometimes it's hard to catch my breath. Can't afford a LLMD as of right now.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Welcome JoeyM. I can answer your mycoplasma question. DS takes an antibiotic called minocycline for it from what I remember. It is "walking pneumonia" and definitely can cause breathing problems with Lyme patients.

I'm sure other members will chime in too and give you some additional info.

Hopefully your doctor is planning to treat you for these - if not, you will need to find an LLMD, which is a good idea anyway given your results. There is a lot of information at the top of the Lyme forum under "New to Lyme Disease".

Mycoplasma can also cause some of the same issues as Lyme, and is implicated in rheumatoid arthritis among other AI diseases.

I have been using Buhner's mycoplasma protocol, found in his book regarding co-infections. Mycoplasma has definitely been a part of my problem, since treating has lessened the INTENSITY of my tendon flares (they are still debilitating but no longer screaming out in agony bad).

I would try an herbal protocol to knock down the mycoplasma. Since you have lung involvement make sure you include Bidens tincture.

Bartonella ,mycoplasm and cpn disable the immune sx ..regular docs are useless..get a llmd ...bartonella has fried my nerves ...igg means its still in there ...you can treat with houttynia ,cumanda ,zith and rifampin .be wary of floroqyinalones and sulfa

Infectious disease docs are ducks too even on east coast ...jaller has a book he is nutz but he has worked a bit then there is a bartonella guru...please request a llmd from ilads or post here and lnet ...welcome

Sorry - I re-read your post and you said you can't afford a LLMD now.

Have you thought about doing an herbal approach?

The testing was done by my rheumatologist. I have an appt tomorrow with my new Primary to get a chest X-ray.

yancync- How long was he on that on was there a lot of side effects?

bdavis- I'm going to look into Bidens tincture. I was tested for RA and all the others, came back neg. Used a test called Vectra-DA. My # was only 18.

Girlie- Yes, I'm open to taking herbs. I'll eat dirt if I have to LOL

Because of this forum and how helpful everyone is, my husband now drinks dandelion tea, takes yellow dock root, soaks in Epsom salt foot baths every day LOL.

Thanks Bluelyme, I will look for that book. I know about ID Drs now that my husband has 5 positive bands for Lyme and Babesia. We knew nothing about it before his dx. I thank God I found this board because I'm learning so much! My head is so full I already forgot stuff LOL

IgG can indicate past infection but not necessarily. Should really be diagnosed on symptoms. I have several like this but what does that mean? That I have a bunch of past tick borne infections yet active tick borne disease despite never treating? BS.

Bartonella for many (including myself and my disabled sister in law) is the nastiest of the infections. I would start going after it with herbs if you can. If you do a search at the top of the page you'll find all sorts of good approaches to treating Bart. I just started Cumanda and it hit me hard so I know its doing something but once again everyone is different.

Unfortunately, not many doctors know how to read those tests - these are not your regular infections. If a person has had symptoms and no treatments, then the infections are still present and need treatment so that they don't continue to destroy the body - especially since your test shows you definitely have had it.

I would encourage you to look into herbal protocols instead of relying on doctors that obviously don't know enough about these infections.

Please read the New To Lyme thread. On page 2 you might find some resources that can help you with finances. I have not used any or even tried the links. Please let Girlie, Traveler or CD know if any of them are outdated or not of value so they can modify the thread.

Bluelyme- doc switched me from rif to sulfa, you said be wary, just curious as to why.

I was positive Igg for Bart to and original LLMD did not want to treat it either, but have experienced many Bart like symtoms and herxs, particularly testicular pains,

have done two rounds of rif and just curious as to what people think of sulfa, Septra, Bactrim instead.
