The loest my TPO has been was my test result this week, 389. Thats from a start of 762 in 2014. I know people with a TPO over 4000 and there is no corrolation between antibody numbers and how sick one feels. The swelling doesnt necessarily mean an increased attack, though it can. In my case its strictly inflammation, which this morning has drastically improved. There is a common denominator in all autoimmune disorders, not always the same cause though. In this case, I am certain Lyme and or Bart is the cause. One effect of the attack is decreased intestinal mobility as a result of lowered stomach acids, also decreased communication between the gut/brain. I came to this conclusion after reading numerous scientific based articles from Mary Shamon, Chris Kresser, etc etc and adding in how Buhner points to cytokine production, and others on th1/th2 dominance, MTHFR gene mutation, and DNA destruction.
I read waaayy too much, but honestly, researchers are missing not only this connection, but many others. I read The Root Cause and found many mistakes, actually not mistakes but scientific findings copied and assumed to be correct when it fact those issues were already disputed by newer studies.
Like it or not we're still not digging deep enough, still stopping short and treating symptoms instead of reaching the true cause. Hopefully we get "there" in the near future. I still believe we're being sold out to the highest bidder, whether that be big pharma, the book sellers, and the alternative practitioners waiting for their big break. Using one of my pet peeves as an example, and I get a lot of flack for it, people using FODMAP and touting its curative properties which are anything but. Youre just patching the problem isntead of getting to the real issue. No one, absolutely none, should habe to live on a restricted diet to receive a certain outcome. Though that their prerogative to do so until science catches up, if it ever does. There IS an answer out there somewhere. Sifting through the hurdles and finding its another problem altogether.
Oh, and PS......this old thyroid of mine is staying right where it is until someone proves it needs to go, or cancerous tissue takes hold. I simply cannot accept removal of such an important organ when it isnt the cause of the autoimmune condition a patients trying to cure.
