Earlier in the week Traveler posted a link about doing a baking soda in water test to see if you have sufficient stomach acid. So....You drink baking soda (i think it was a 1/4 tsp) in a glass of water and if you don't burp in 5 minutes you should supplement with betaine hcl or something like that. I did a small burp at 2 or 3 minutes. So I went about my morning getting the kids ready for school. It was 30 minutes or so later and I took my supplements (adrenal complex, adapten-all, vit c) and out the door we went. about 10 minutes after taking the supplements I experienced bad stomach pain and then felt a burning sensation on my face, ears, neck and upper body. It was a bit itchy and I felt like I could pass out. As soon as I got home I ran to the bathroom and from the waist up I was covered in a blotchy rash. Not sure if it was the baking soda/supplement combo or just the baking soda. It took about 1-2 hours to go away.
So, if you do this test do not take supplements after! I'm guessing it was some sort of chemical reaction? Probably the vitamin c, but it is a whole food vitamin (Pure Synergy).
