Rocephin/CBC results

Looking for local knowledge on CBC changes since starting Rocephin. I have been on 2g/day IV for 19 days and Doctor is concerned about decreasing WBC and elevates lover functions.

Are these results typical of Rocephin? Lyme? Both?

WBC- 5.3 , 4.1 , 3.6 (L)

RBC - 4.74 , 4.83, 4.65

ALT- 12 , 20 , 50 (H)

AST- 21 , 24 , 37 (H)

Biko Direct - .17 , .14 , .21 (H)

Monocytes - 10.3 , 16.1 , 16.8

Recap - Noticed Lyme rash approx 60 days ago.

No pulsing, I was prescribed a 28 day course by my ID. I'm at day 19 or 20 now. Was feeling better last week, but this week I'm just as dizzy and lightheaded as I was before starting the Rocephin.

Tomorrow if liver enzymes are still high I have a feeling tony are going to discontinue the remainder of the IV and pull the PICC line. In some ways I'm actually fine with that. It's been nearly 60 days straight of abx, and my body wouldn't mind a little break.

In a month I have an appointment with Dr. K in Orange, CT who I understand is vey highly regarded in the field of neuro Lyme. He will likely become my treating physician, and I will most likely pickup ABX in early October.

It is quite common for WBCs to decrease either with infection and/or with treatment. 3.0 is considered the threshold for stopping treatment by many. Your LLMD might just want to observe, do labs wkly of you're not already.

The liver enzymes can climb on many drugs (it's scary to know this, yet MOST people on MOST drugs aren't being tested for high enzymes. Your LLMD should have had you take liver support when you started the Rocephin. Milk thistle seed and/or burdock root work very well for most of us.

When I started Lyme tx I was on milk thistle seed yet my liver enzymes climbed after adding an antiviral Rx to an antifungal Rx I was on. Both in combination worked well - even when I added Rocephin IV and Vancomycin IV. No problems. I've been doing wkly labs.

And then I ran out of MTS and yes, enzymes shot up again.

You might be ok with only MTS or burdock root - I'd start with MTS first.

Start with low doses, tut rate up to max doses as you can tolerate.

But also, what else are you doing for detox? Sounds like your body needs some help.

And are you taking Actigal/ Ursodiol to protect gallbladder?

Pulsing the Rocephin is also recommended, which will give your body a break w/out ceasing the Rocephin altogether, which could induce a nasty flare and set you back. Try 5 days on, 2 days off or reducing to 1.5g per day.
