BBM - when you take abx on the p450 list - you may not want to take herbs that are also on that list.
BUT - if the herbs you're taking aren't on the list, then no issues taking them with abx on that list. Make sense?
I don't know how much we should be concerning ourselves with the list, though...as some experienced LLMD's and LLND's - don't seem to be concerned about
the interactions and are prescribing abx to be taken with the herbs on the list....and also two abx on the list are being prescribed together...
(I think biaxin and Rifampin are on the list...and they are often prescribed together...so I think in some situations...the good of those two outweighs the bad?)
I hope I haven't made this more confusing.
I've attached a link to the Drug interaction table:
you will see that clarithromycin (biaxin) is an inhibitor, while Rifampin and Artemisinin are inducers.
But there's different categories in each section...and I have no clue how that affects the interaction.
