These are the symptoms associated with EBV and Lysine has helped to lower the severity of each of these for me:
fatigue; fever; sore throat; swollen lymph nodes; headache; painful joints; abdominal pain; muscle pain; low-grade fever; and cognitive difficulty, especially difficulty concentrating and sleeping.
I stay on a low maintenance dose of Lysine (2 - 3,000 mgs a day, in divided doses), unless I can tell I'm having a flare, then I'll raise my doses (8 -9,000 mgs daily, in divided doses) and within a week to 10 days I'm usually feeling some improvements.
I also use Lysine to combat the other herpes viruses, particularly when I get a cold sore. I immediately start high doses of Lysine and the cold sore will disappear in about 2 or 3 days if I catch it quickly enough - at the first sign of that "special" little tingle - those that have had a lot of cold sores will know exactly what I mean.
Interestingly enough, this last time I lowered my dose of Lysine (2 weeks ago), my thyroid swelled!! After some research, sure enough, the thyroid depends on Lysine as well, so I raised my dose back up and my thyroid swelling went back down. This was the first time I've ever experienced the direct connection like this though.
