We have all heard about Lyme running through families. It has happened to lots of posters here and has happened in my own family. However, what about the coinfections. Are certain coinfections transmitted through bodily fluids or sexually transmitted, while others aren't? This knowledge would be very helpful for those helping their family members.
My wife, for example, was tested for several things when she started getting the same Lyme symptoms as me. We found 3 pos bands on the WB (include borrelia specific band 23), so we know she has Lyme. We had her checked for mycoplasma (which I had very high), and she was negative. So I feel mycoplasma may not be as easily transmitted. Of course this is just one person, and we do know that some people may not have antibodies because of immune system not functioning properly. However, despite the Lyme, her immune system still works WAY better than mine. The flu went around our house and everyone else is better and I just can't shake it. So I feel like if she had contracted mycoplasma from me, her immune system would be producing antibodies - its not.
So what about other coinfections? Which ones are transmittable through bodily fluids and which aren't? Any information or personal experiences to add?
