Herx from Grapefruit seed extract?

I started it today as directed on bottle.
Does it cause herx? Makes me feel nauseated after about 1 hr and weird effect in my arm like from elbow to forearm feeling of let go (MS kind). Also it is giving me hot flushes....I just said in other thread that my hot flushes were gone!!! Oh my!!
Do I need it using Buhner protocol?

Oh my! I take GSE. Yes definitely drop the dose down. Which are you doing, drops or pills? I started with 1 drop, 3x a day. I typically do 10-12 drops, 3x a day now. Yes, you can herx off of it. I believe it is also used as a biofilm buster.

If you are doing pills, either do half or a 1/4, 3x a day or whatever you can handle at this time. Slowly work your way up. I've done the pills too.

I agree - you might want to lower doses.

Also, GSE is a pretty good anti fungal and your herxing sounds very much l like yeast/fungal die off. So that's good! But titrate up slowly and be very sure to add a binder for your detoxing so that you can get all of the dead yeast/fungus out of the gut effectively, every day.

I had been taking GSE for a long time but apparently, the bottle I was using was very old. So a few wks back I bought a new bottle. Within 30 min. after the first dose the tips of my fingers went numb and palsy in my face returned. Nice herx!

But then I started getting these weird bulges in my lower legs/feet... the on my lower legs felt dry and rough - weird texture. They ached, felt puffy and stiff. The skin on my toes looked so dry and crackly. huh??? And then, I remembered that the DNA testing I did a couple years back (which revealed very strange and interesting things) also revealed that my body doesn't metabolize grapefruit well. BINGO!!! So, I stopped taking it and those symptoms are disappearing.

Anyway, doesn't sound like you have any of those issues - sounds like you're getting a good herx. Be sure to detox!!

Yes your plan for moving forward sounds good. You are definitely killing off some things and/or breaking some things down. Keep going....just slower.

Buhner believes that GSE only affects Lyme in the gastro tract (including cysts), but there is a lot of controversy over this.

Goofy question, but which one has parsley in it? LOL! I can't find it! Are you on the GD (green Dragon, for those that don't know) core protocol or on the GD core tonic? I'm not even sure I understand the difference between the two, to be honest about it, other than one has andrographis and one has eleuthero.

To be completely honest, I wasn't convinced about the need for biofilm busters, or for cyst busters when I started using herbs, but I tried a biofilm buster and it busted loose all manner of little devils!! So now I'm a firm believer in biofilm busters. Buhner doesn't really mention cysts in his 2nd edition of Healing Lyme, but he does mention it on this site:

I know that many people still use a cyst buster of some sort even when using herbs though - I'm just not real sure of what they are right now - sorry!! Hopefully those that are using herbal cyst busters will chime in soon!

Grapeseed extract also made me feel funny. I was taking it for my candida back in the day. I stopped and took another approach. Not because of herxing but because my gut feeling was telling me it was a "bad" weird and not a "good" weird like with herxing.
